of the reading v west ham game? id actually want reading to win so west ham dont gain any points on second what are your thoughts?
As long as we beat Blackpool, a draw would be ideal. It would move us 7 points clear of Reading and more importantly 8 points clear of West Ham. We'd be in a fantastic position to win the league ! Failing that, i'd take a Reading win because West Ham will move further back and it gives us a great chance of an automatic finish. What we could do without is a West Ham win because the three horse race could be blown wide open again. Worst case scenario is Saints loose to Blackpool and West Ham beat Reading. That would leave Saints on 78 pts, West Ham on 75 pts and Reading on 73 pts. This would make a horribly tight race to the finish line !
No result can be bad, but I would like a Reading win as we would then be 6, 7 or 9 points above third with only 6 games to go. If it was 9 points, we would only need to win 3/6 games because WHU couldn't pass us even if they won all 6.
We also must remember that we have to play Reading which could keep West Ham interested as they would want us to win.
I'd like a Reading win, Boyf's a Reading fan so as long as we both go up, I don't mind which order. Could we both secure promotion at SMS on 13th April?? I think I've just answered my own question.......hurrah for Championship predictor!! If Saints and Reading win all their remaining games before we play at SMS and West Ham lose all theirs, this is how the league will stand: 1 Saints Pld 42 - 87 pts 2 Reading Pld 42 - 82 pts 3 West Ham Pld 42 - 72 pts So Reading would need to beat us to win promotion. (We'd already be promoted by this time, at Palace) If's and but's.....I love this time of year!!!
Obviously like us to win the title, but promotion is best for the long term future of the club. Does it matter that we came up second last year. I want auto virtually confirmed in a couple of games time.
The important result for us would be to beat Blackpool. We're top with a margin, so it's in our hands. Whatever the result, at least one of them drops points, which gives us a chance to extend our lead.
For those that are interested, here are the possible outcomes from Saturday's matches: Saints beat Blackpool, Reading and West Ham draw 1. Saints - 81 2. Reading - 74 3. West Ham - 73 Saints beat Blackpool, Reading beat West Ham 1. Saints - 81 2. Reading - 76 3. West Ham - 72 Saints beat Blackpool, West Ham beat Reading 1. Saints - 81 2. West Ham - 75 3. Reading - 73 Saints and Blackpool draw, Reading and West Ham draw 1. Saints - 79 2. Reading - 74 3. West Ham - 73 Saints and Blackpool draw, Reading beat West Ham 1. Saints - 79 2. Reading - 76 3. West Ham - 72 Saints and Blackpool draw, West Ham beat Reading 1. Saints - 79 2. West Ham - 75 3. Reading - 73 Blackpool beat Saints, Reading and West Ham draw 1. Saints - 78 2. Reading - 74 3. West Ham - 73 Blackpool beat Saints, Reading beat West Ham 1. Saints - 78 2. Reading - 76 3. West Ham - 72 Blackpool beat Saints, West Ham beat Reading 1. Saints - 78 2. West Ham - 75 3. Reading - 73
I want West Ham to win as long as we also do but I think our game away at Blackpool is a banker draw. That being the case I hope West Ham and Reading draw then we beat Reading at home and West Ham go above them. Hate Reading with a Passion and all their plastic fans.
I have a feeling West Ham will win. But so long as we do the business whatever the result in the WH/Reading game will be a bonus.
Just the sort of thing I was about to write. The worst result for us would be that they got the fixture out of the way weeks ago, and are in their present positions. Bearing in mind that Saints can take care of their own business, I'd like to see a draw. It wastes the 3rd point, and both clubs, if asked, would only be satisfied with a win. WHU being obviously the more decided on that of the two.
I've said it before. I think we may slip up tomorrow; that's not doom and gloom, just think Holloway is a wily old fox. Any result in the other game suits us. For me, best result is 1-1
We don't want to but can afford to lose a game...we just mustn't panic if it's tomorrow. Will I panic...of course I will!
Hope it is a draw! At the end of the day I hope all three of us go up (WHU via the play-offs) since all the teams involved are consdierably better than the other play-off contenders and pretenders.
If I could choose, it would be the draw. More importantly, if we win it really doesn't matter what the result is.
If we lose to Blackpool, then a West Ham win would have absolutely been the worst outcome for us imo, should it have happened. If however we beat Blackpool, then there's little between a draw and a West Ham win being the best outcome for us. As I've said on the match thread, if you offered me a draw against Blackpool and a Reading win against West Ham, I would take it.
West Sam are going to win 3-0 tomorrow, sad, but true. Reading to start a run of bad results, WHU to go on a good run. Thats how it looks to me, just hope we can keep our end of the bargain!
