With the signing of Neil Kilkenny I can't quite see what shape the team will be that milly is building.

The description of Kilkenny as a player has an uncanny similarity to the way I would describe LJ, and we always struggled to get him in to a midfield 5, and he certainly didn't work in a 4.

Maybe we are going 4-3-3 with Kilkenny, Cisse and Elliot behind a plethora of choices up front.

Albert, Steady, Bolasie, Maynard, Pitman, Taylor, Clarkson

Its certain we have good options in the squad now for most eventualities but I can't see the 'at home' dead cert 11?

What would your first choice from our current options be?

Difficult to say at this stage but Millen usually goes with a back 4, so from that I'd play Cisse, NK and Marv in CM and Stead ,Maynard and Adomah as a front 3. Obviously Adomah will have to do what he did last season and track back as needed.
If Maynard leaves I think Pitman will come in.
Whatever some may think of the Leeds opinion of NK, he can't be as bad as LJ.
Cisse holding,Marv the legwork and NK the creative might just work.

Understand you lot are trying to get Boro's Andy Taylor from under our noses. In talks with both of us on Monday apparently.

Serious question - who do you think he'll choose and why?

Hey Sparkey, one of the ol' contemptibles, even stevens I think but Taylor did play under Mackay once before I think, so it all depends on their working relationship,Millen has won over a couple after negotiations recently.

I think you may have the upper hand here due to the Mckay connection, but at least we are trying!

Sometimes a fresh start and all that!

Yup, agreed fellas - I think we've got a head start due to the Malky Bar Kid connection, but nothing would surprise me after last season. <doh>

Having said that, he might just want to be sure of a game each week for you rather than bench-warming for us.........<whistle>

Yea, bench warming and mid table obscurity for you.

Team on the up with momentum for us.

    (you asked for that!)

Rumour from inside the club is that we're in talks with another centre midfielder. So I would have thought 4-3-3 for next year.. Will try and find out something more concrete tho.

We might be going 4-3-3, it served Swansea well last season to earn them promotion and accolade of being the No 1 team in Wales.

To be honest with all the "proper" wingers we have anything other than 4-4-2 is madnes isnt it?

I know its fasionable to try and flood midfield these days but with all the strikers available it would be mad not to pick two up top and surly there is no real place for Albert, JCR, Woolford, or the new lad Balosie (forget his name) without having wingers?

This Taylor is exactly the sort of player I want to see us linked with and would be keen to see him sign. I am sure him working with MM last season will make his mind up one way or the other? it depends how he liked it.

Either club will payout a little more here or there to make a deal happen, I am sure it wont come down to who will offer the best terms financially, either would match the other.

He might just fancy being a resident of England.

To be honest I don't know why we need "one" formation.

I'd love to see us adopt a 4-3-3 with some of our wingers playing a bit closer to the centre or in the centre behind the forwards. However, as has been rightly said we've bolstered our wingers at the moment so it looks as if we won't do that. Our squad size is still quite large and I'd be happy to see us rotate our squad a bit more this season, perhaps with both 4-4-2 and 4-3-3 to give key players a rest and others a game. I trust Millen to know our players by now and quite frankly if we're not going to play a player regularly then they need to go.

I can definitely see us going 4-3-3 this season, we tend to get over-ran in midfield with a 4-4-2. both Adomah and Bolasie are effective when tucked in and can use their pace better than just being chauffeured down the line, 4-4-2 is too easy to nullify. I want to see the pacey players taking the defenders both ways and being overlapped by the full backs.

We have got some great options in the squad now. I'm feeling a bit optimistic now!

I'd like to see us going for 4-2-3-1...

Well away from home anyway, something like...

    GK and back four

    Cisse Skuse
    Adomah Kilkenny Bolasie
    Pitman/Maynard/Stead

Should be very solid but also very quick on the break
