I really hope this comes off!! 01 Marshall 16 Connolly 03 Fabio 07 Whittingham 05 Hudson 36 Morrison 10 Le Fondre 17 Gunnarsson 23 Maynard 19 Pilkington 18 Adeyemi Substitutes 02 Brayford 08 Dikgacoi 09 Jones 14 Macheda 15 Wolff Eikrem 30 Burgstaller 33 Moore
Not sure this lot are going to line up, but I'll take a stab at Huds and Morro in the middle with Connolly RB and Fabio LB. Looks like it's going to be a diamond in midfield with Adeyemi in the holding role, Pilks and Gunnar left and right with hopefully Whitts further forward at the point feeding the runs of Maynard and Le Fondre.
Sparkey, you asked earlier in the week who should we play Le Fondre or Maynard. Obviously Ole can't decide so he's playing them both.
What's Kenwyne done wrong or is he still not 100% fit? Mind you, what a sub to bring on if you need to change things.
Ole said Jones wasn't 100% fit yet, and I was surprised he played so long against Wigan (80+ minutes I think). He might replace Maynard in the second half. I am surprised Brayford isn't starting though, he has been outstanding this season.
I did say on another post that Le Fondre AND Maynard may be the way to break down the Wolves 4231. Don't know why he'd change a solid back 4 though. Maybe he thinks Pilkington can do enough attacking on his own and doesn't need Brayford overlapping. Wish Ole would develop a plan A and stick to it for a while! Plans B, C and D follow plan A.
Half an hour gone and the best thing you can say so far about our performance is somehow Wolves haven't managed to score.
Every game this season we've had 40% possession or less. Thought our midfield was all about keeping the ball.
Who have we got on the bench to change this apparent one way traffic? Must be either Jones or Macheda on for one of the smaller guys up front. Or instead of going for the 3 points, do we settle for another defensive performance to keep the point we've got? Dikgacoi on for Gunnar or even Whitts will help out the back 4 who are getting stretched. Having said that, I can't remember Marshie having too much to do behind them in that first half.
Looks like another season of tinkering. OGS has left our top scorer out of the side, has unsettled the defence which was starting to look decent, Connoly who has been a revelation at centre back is relegated to full back and our strike force is unbalanced. Guerra who has looked decent can't even make the bench. Does OGS really know what he is doing?
