With todays news that Steve Bruce has been sacked the talk now is obviously about who will take charge at the SoL. At the minute Martin O'Neill and Mark Hughes are the clear favourites with the likes of Rafa Benetez, Carlo Ancelotti, Gus Poyet and many more further down the pecking order but what is in store for the new manager?

After the huge influx of signings early on in the summer, Brucie spoke about the need to get players off the wage bill before we could make anymore signings with us desperately in need and trying to bring in a centre forward and a left winger. Since then we moved on Steed Malbranque, Anton Ferdinand and the controversial departure of record signing Asamoah Gyan. Whoever the new manager is they will have to work under these same guidelines, I dont think transfer fee's are the problem at all I would assume Ellis will back the new man to go and bring in who he wants aslong as we can afford the player on our wage list not his transfer fee so maybe we have space to bring in 1 or 2 maybe 3 players max in before we certainly have to sell before we can buy.

The new manager whoever they will be will have a decent base to start to turn things around, we dont have a bad squad but IMO it aint good enough to be regarded as a top 10 team. Things need to turn around quickly and not just results, the new manager needs to get his staff in and his team in in the next 2 transfer windows so I would be shocked if there wasn't a huge turnaround in the playing staff during the summer.

The new manager also has to be more tactically inapt than Brucie, we need to decide how our new team is going to play what style and what sort of players will fit into that and we need better game plans and not just a plan A we need a plan A,B,C,D,E,F,G and so on.

The thing that I do know is that all the managers out of work even the top ones like the Benetez's and Ancelotti's could do a lot worse than manage us, everything is setup for someone to come in, we have a great fan base, great stadium and academy along with a top class owner/chairman in Ellis Short we just need someone to come in stamp his authority on the club and get us up that table, if that happens we will get the crowds back.

My choice for the job would be Ancelotti but I do tend to think that is fantasy stuff so David Moyes should be approached, he must be pig sick at Everton with the lack of money he has, the only players he signed in the summer were loan signings and he is good at bringing in creative players especially into that midfield area, something we seriously need to do, we lack pace, creativity and goals.

    Agreed!

I think our club is a great prospect for any manager and if Short pays the money he can get anyone he wants!

Wasnt Bruce like 5th highest paid manager or sumit anyway?
