Don't do a lot of texting or ringing but fancy having the option of sky sports etc just for results. So any ideas on what to get now my contract's up.
No suggestions here - but I'm waiting to see what gets suggested, as my (5hit) Blackberry has died on me.....
HTC's are ok for a bit of Internet, Samsung Galaxy phones are the best you'll get without forking out for an iPhone, but got no idea how much they cost, probably something similar
Someone's suggested a Samsung Galaxy Y as being 'usable' but the screen resolution can be a pain for browsing (apparently). I used to laugh at my parents understanding of technology.
Im dipping my toe in the water a bit here too. My phone is 7 years old, I text a fair bit and use the phone but if i get a new one with internet etc can i keep the same number.
ive just got a 2nd hand i phone 3 from a mate and im really enjoying it, especially the ipod and sky go, enjoyed malaga v barca in the car on the way home from leicester if your contracts up, usually a threat that youve seen a good offer somewhere else and you wish to not renew usually gets you the free handset you require, id try for the new i phone 4, thats what im aiming to do in july
I've got a cheap naff smartphone on PAYG with unlimited internet for £10pm (+original cost of phone)
im already on a contract on about 30 quid a month with unlimited texts, calls and net and i bought the phone 2nd hand and swapped the sim card, so i still pay the same. i think my brother got a free i phone 4 on a new contract and pays about 25 quid a month, not too sure what he gets with that call/text wise.. i think watching a game just uses the battery up quickly , doesnt save it or anything so dont think it effects the phone memory, tho i am far from an expert and could be totally misunderstanding...ha ha
My youngest, (16) had a blackberry then we bought her a Y for Christmas, she reckoned its the best phone she's ever had. I've got a Galaxy 2. I love me my Samsungs. Go have a play in a shop tbh, they fall over themselves to be helpful.
I bought an ASUS Transformer Prime. Not a phone but if you want a hybrid between a notebook and a tablet, i d recommend it over an IPad
I've got a Samsung Galaxy Ace, which was between £160-£200 depending on where you buy from. Great quality phone. I have a Giffgaff sim with 250 mins, unlimited texts and net. Free sim, don't know if you can get them for iPhones though. Giffgaff.co.uk or giffgaff.com not sure which check it out!
He's talking about data allowance that he's downloading. With your unlimited internet it won't be a problem but if he's on a deal getting say 2GB of data a month he'll have to be careful abvout streaming video. Dutch - I'd reccomend a Samsung Galaxy Mini if it's budget you're after. This is the cheapest one they do I think and it's described as an 'entry-level' smartphone. It does everything you need but just lacks a bit of processing power if you want to use the internet extensively. I have one myself and I can't say I've really tried to watch football on it or anything like that, but for basic smartphone functions it does the job.
What do you pay currently per month as if it is approaching £20-30 you will get a top of the range phone on a 2 year deal for around £30pm
Cheers for the replies. We've had a few Samsung's in the family and I don't recall a problem with any. I do like the sound of giffgaff, but I've been offered the Galaxy Y at £12 with 2gb data and I reckon I can get the Ace on the same deal, which would probably do me and would work out cheaper than giffgaff albeit with data and text limits. I know it'll happen anyway, but I didn't want to get stuck on a contract and then someone tell me about a bargain.
I got an iPhone 4 I pay £20 a month get 2000 minutes unlimited texts and unlimited Internet. Most run of the mill fun iPhone games are around 10-100mb but you can get full blown games you could play on a console that are 500mb +, I've got one that's about 1.5gb. But you don't have to worry about your data allowance for those things as you have to e connected to wifi to download apps. 2gb should probably be plenty for general browsing as log as your not streaming too much video or audio whilst your out on the go.
That's the important thing to remember with data allowances. Get your phone connected to your wi-fi at home, work and anywhere else you can do and make sure it's turned on when you're in the vicinity. That way you're only using data when you're out and about.
No it was a free handset got a 3GS at the time of taking the contract out and after 12 months was offered free upgrade to iPhone 4. Could of payed £100 to upgrade to 4s but I didn't think £100 quid justified having some stupid annoying computerised wench which scans google for you, specially when you can buy an app for all the other models called 'Evi' which does exactly the same thing for 69p. Forgot to add its an 18 moth contract.
