With a Dockyard Derby, a Port battle etc awaiting us it's worth remembering only a couple of seasons ago we sent a team of kids and previous season reserves to Argyle for a Cup game. We've finished 6th in the league with the 3rd equal best goal difference. So whatever occurs over the next 10 days lets be pleased with progress....we all knew this was not going to be a walk in the park and hopefully with a couple of tweaks in a couple of positions we are close to being a realistic promotion candidate next season - it has been a frustrating season and our games drawn is where we lost our chance of automatics. The football has at times been very good and only needed a bit more of a ruthless edge. We've made the play offs - it was what I expected as a minimum tbh, so we are still in with a shout. But if it falls on deaf ears and we don't make it lets just reflect on where we've been and where we are going. It will come.
Actually take a look at the top 7 teams and there is a story to be told with all of them isn't there. Northampton had a bit of doubt mid season financially. Oxford collapsed a few years back and have only just managed to get it together after years in the wilderness. Bristol Rovers were non league recently. Accrington have been resurrected and fought back into the league. Plymouth did finacial meltdown and relegations for fun. You know your story. Wimbledon got shafted by the owners and had to fight their way back into existance. Just a shower of basket cases really. Now out of that lot which ones deserve it most?
it could be argued each and every one of the top 7 has a stake to claim a place for the promised land of league 1 the winner to join the other 3 will be the club that can take its luck, chances and hold their nerve. . . . . Which is why it wont be us and personally I don't think we are ready and I for one cant cope with a yo-yo season pup
