With all the cares and bothers bearing down on us at present my mind began to wander and remember with fondness and nostalgia fun things like Terry Mancini's wig and would any player do something like that anymore, or his encyclopedic knowledge of anthems; or Venables' eyebrows and the way they might shutter or Rodney's odd socks or no socks. Could Shaun Derry win the L'Oreal contract, and why not? Despite achieving our ambition of PL status we have only found reasons to be tearful, reasons to be fearful. Our problems will not disappear but there is good stuff too.
"Could Shaun Derry win the L'Oreal contract, and why not?" ====================================== He could get the 'just for men' one!
Fun requires four things: a sense of community, freedom and security; and charismatic characters. The latter is still available to us (Warnock, Taarabt, Mackie etc.). It's the former that's being obstructed by the cold air gusting through the Goons' very cynical vision. Like many of you, I work hard for a crust and Rangers and not606 are the foil to serious matters... I miss the fun too. Feel utterly robbed in that sense (although Woody's perspective (see thread of same name) has provided balance).
