Mine........ Hamer Solly--Cort--Morrow--Wiggins Haynes--Stephens--Jackson--Cook ------Kermit----- ---Bradders------- Subs- GK (nothing against Sully but Chris wants him out on loan) Wilson Taylor Evina Pritchard Bover Smith Well that's mine Options? AllHell
I was just about to post this in the transfer tread but it seems more logical here now. I think we could be in for a bit of a surprise and see SCP move away from 442. All his signings since last summer point this way. Even the donkey Clarke makes scenes if he is thinking 433. Haynes, cook, question markes over waggy and green at this level? No incoming left winger? Hamer Solly-Morrison-court-wiggins Hollands-Stephens-Jj Haynes-Kermo-baldock How does that float your boat?
I agree cafc4ever. His big hints about 'tactical transitions' after the Welling game, having gone 4-3-3, suggests it will be the formation of choice next year. The signing of Cook, who seems to play best as a wing-forward, gives further evidence to this. Personally I'd go for: -------------Hamer----------------- -Solly-Taylor-Morrison-Wiggins- ---Stephens-Hughes-Jackson--- -----Haynes-Kermit-BWP-------- New GK Cort Wilson Hollands Wagstaff Smith Bover/New Striker
I agree that SCP is looking for intelligent players who can transform their shape from a 4-4-2 to a 4-3-3 or even in tricky away games to a 4-5-1. This will require players who are not wedded to the 4-4-2 formation and can and will drive the change of shape if it is needed midway through a match. In those circumstances I believe you will see a bit more of some of the players who started the first half against Welling in the traditional 4-4-2 formation since I reckon he was comfortable with their ability to switch. The likes of Pritchard Kermorgant and dare I say it Bover will more easily change the shape of play than the likes of Hollands, Stephens and Jacko. This makes it difficult to guess the starting line up since it will come down to CPs assessment of who did extremely well in the second half against Welling and in the subsequent friendlies. However if it is to be a 4 3 3 don't be surprised to find Jacobo ( who was being watched for his distribution) Wilson Cort Morrison Wiggins Pritchard Bover Jacko BWP Kermo Cook Subs Hamer Taylor Solly Wagstaff Hollands Haynes Stephens
Do you think Kermorgant will be good enough for this league? When ever he played for us he just went AWOL, although he did play on the left wing quite a bit Morrison wasnt strong enough to play centre half in this league for us but he did a very decent job for us a right back. He looks alot bigger now then he did before so i dont think he will have the same problems now
This. I'm curious to see if CP changes his ethos of sticking to a winning side or whether he will mix it around when it comes to playing some of the bigger teams away. I think his preferred method will be a flat 4-4-2 with a team pretty much consisting of last years players: Hamer Solly - Morro - Cort - Wiggins Wagstaff (to start the season) - Stephens - Hollands (Pritchard if he has a disrupted pre season) - JJ Kermo - BWP For a difficult away game I think he will go for Wilson on the right wing and also keep JJ on the left (as opposed to filling in at CM) to protect Wiggins. Kermo will also be dropping deeper so think Haynes could well be his partner in hope of a counter attack. I'm not sure how he will integrate new signings at first. I really believe that he will give the squad from last season a run of game to prove themselves, which I tend to agree with. It keeps them on their toes and also drives the new recruits to force their way in to contention.
Hamer Solly Morro Cort Wiggins Jackson - CM Stephens - CM Hollands - CM Cook - LF/RF Haynes - LF/RF Kermit - CF I will give £100 to charity if BWP scores more than 10 this season (in the league only).
Really cant see that happening at all, Solly was outstanding last season and won player of the year, so in what realm would he be dropped to the bench when every other club in the league would have him? While i like Pritchard, i cant see him displacing Hollands. And as for Bover, he looks one for the future and definately not first team material yet imo. I would like to send him on loan to a league 1 club this season and see how he gets on. My starting 11 would be (unless we sign anyone better than we have currently) --------------------Hamer-------------------- -----Solly-----Cort----Morro-----Wiggins--- --------Stephens--Hollands------JJ---------- ---Haynes....................................BWP--- ----------------Yann The Man---------------- Bench: Sully,Wilson,Taylor,Pritch,Green,Cook,Hayes BWP and Haynes to push forward so essentially a 4-3-3, but if we need it to switch more defensive we could put JJ out left and bring Pritch on for BWP in the centre. So much confidence in Solly he doesn't need anyone in front of him to help him defensively.
I have rarely seen any player to whom the description "went AWOL" was less applicable. He was in the thick of the action for 90 minutes in midfield, attack and defence. If he maintains fitness he will be one of the best players in the Championship and would not be a passenger in the Premiership. Not the finished article yet but won't be physically bullied by anyone.
I will take this up with you and get involved myself and say if BWP starts more than 29 games and not score 10 I will pay £100 to a charity of the forums choosing (maybe someone deals directly with one?).
I have to agree with Eddie, in one game last season the wounded old bear was finally battered to the floor after 70 odd minutes of physical abuse from the opposition centre half..... he was dragged to the sidelines...sponged down... thrown back on....next high ball from our keeper, who was it out jumping their centre half...yes the battered old french bear who continued to do that for the rest of the game. I'm not sure which Kermit.o.gant you had be it doesn't sound like ours With regard to Morrow....just can't see him being bullied this season, perhaps he was a boy when with you BUT he is a man now Anyway Proud mate you'll find out on the 21 August that neither player are the same that left you
I'll make a charity donation if Leon Clarke doesn't play all season! He has a new web site btw www.spana.org
Honestly Kermorgant is one of the finest footballers i have seen play, sounds crazy but think about it this way. The man has without doubt the best attitude a footballer can possibly have, he does anything he can to help his team out and is not afraid to put himself in harms way to win headers all over the pitch. He gets back, he has superb vision and creativity to make chances for others around him, and can even score goals himself. As we saw last season he can take an exceptional free kick, and i honestly would not want to sell him unless we were offered ridiculous money. As for Morrison, he is without question a centre back, and on his day a fine one at that. I feel that he only ever looks a little below par if his partner at the back is having a bad game, he was exceptional at the start of the season then had a bit of a dip in form because he was being put under pressure by Taylor making mistakes, which is why he started to show better form when Cort replaced Taylor in the starting 11. As for playing him at right back, never going to happen, we have Chris Solly, without doubt the best right back in the division bar none. Interesting to see how the season will turn out, a lot of teams that are on par with each other competing for 3 promotion places, anyone of about 10-15 teams could potentially be in with a play off shout. How do you reckon Leicester will do?
Proud, this is the sort of thing he did for us last season
For the record I reckon exactly the same starting line up as all hell. Bwp will score 14 goals (league goals) Kermit 18 Haynes 8
