Okay, let's face it, horrid day, but the more information that comes out, the more it seems that this day has been coming a while, and the more it seems that to those on the inside, it's not a great shock.....and I include Nigel in that. But..... Love him though I do and always will, what would Nige say now other than - be positive, be constructive. Give the team your support, give the new man your backing. Stay as one, be one together. Let's move forward with that in mind and as a point of respect to him, whilst taking that philosophy on board in backing MP going forward. We are Southampton. We're Premier League.....
It was interesting that both Poch and Forren dropped in that they had known for a while and that a member of the coaching staff may have known after the result at Stamford Bridge. In that case, although there were reports that Adkins found out via Sky Sports or whatever, that seems unlikely and I certainly hope that wasn't the case.
I think he knew as soon as the transfer was being mooted. Just shows the dignity of the guy! I hope he has massive success in his next job!
I agree - if you watch his response on Player to the question about the transfer you can see something wasn't right. I also echo that I hope he has massive success in his next Job - I would love to see him back at St Mary's soon and I am sure that he would get a huge, huge, huge response.
Just rewatched that interview. I think he very clearly knew that it was his last game. The normal Adkins would have had a much bigger buzz about that result but he just seemed a bit subdued.
There was a young man from west Ham, Who kept clogging up forums with spam, But he had to confess That his team was a mess When they played in the style of Fat Sam.
Didn't Adkins once say the longest he was ever down was a half-hour or something. I'm sure he would say "move on". Specially as there's a manager now already in place who needs our backing.
