With Wenger's recent comments regarding the defence indicating he might not strengthen I wondered what fans would consider an "unacceptable" transfer window? And by that I don't mean you were disappointed as we know we'll be disappointed we are every window with the lack of quality or number players signed but there are 3 positions which must be filled or we will have a repeat of the previous 6 seasons. (1/2) DEFENCE - CENTRE BACK & LEFT BACK We don't have a good enough left back, Gibbs may get there one day but he's not there yet! For Centre backs....Squiallci is AWFUL and at his age won't really change! Kos & Djourou have improved but still produced some shocking displays. WE MUST SIGN A NEW CENTRE BACK, one who is dominant in the air and physically strong with some experience. It'll be the most important 10M-20M we could possibly spend (3) STRIKERS - MAIN FORWARD I'm ok with the Gerviho signing and presume we'll keep a 4-3-3 formation but with that said we'll always need a main striker up top. Bendtner seems to be gone so that leaves Chamakh or Gervinho can slot in there. PROBLEM is they are both going to the African Cup of Nations. Some come the new year we'll only have Robin!!! Vela hasn't delivered so we need to get another forward. Hopefully with enough quality to adequately cover Robin. Some have suggested Walcott might fill in at times but his injury record isn't much better! We dream of Benzema but there are plenty of other talented back up strikers who'd do a great job for us. I think it'd be unacceptable for Wenger to fail to strengthen these 3 areas knowing how much we've struggled with this in the past and seemingly no viable options in the current squad.
You're spot on. We need another 3 signings, assuming no one else leaves. A CB, LB and another striker...possibly another defensive minded player to compete with Song, but I count that as less of a priority.
