As our season draws to a close at Preston on Saturday what will everyone do with their Saturday afternoons and occasional Tuesday evenings?

Can we withdraw from the visits to the Vic, or the commentary from Jon Marks and not feel slightly lost.

There will surely be plenty to talk about on here. Mr.B makes a fool of himself again, or becomes an overnight hero. Alright I know I have had a couple of glasses. ;) There will be the transfer market to discuss and the economic situation in Indo-China, but come match time there will be a void.

Having become an almost non TV watcher will I become a couch potato and watch whatever tripe is served up? Will I work even more, or worse still be taken on shopping trips by Mme?

Just stop and think that you will all have 2 or 4 extra hours each week to fill. How will you manage?

Traditionalist I see. It always used to be like that. The football season finished and the players went off to play for the counties.

I'd like to turn the clock back a bit and put on the whites, it was always a great way to spend a weekend and an inclusive sport. Whilst we played the wives and girlfriends manned the bar and made the tea, fantastic....... fine leg with a pint over the rope my favorite position. I do think we'll have a lot to talk about this summer though with the football. We'll no pretty soon if the pitch is going to be sorted, if sarries have found a new temporary home, if DG is going going gone, speculation on the forward line, what are we doing at left back, is the spine of the team staying (JE and MT) or if not big rebuild, there will be speculation about Malky but I think he would be wrong to leave (unless Norwich comes up for him), I think he needs a full season of positive performance, we've had two very poor results patches this year, if he can prove that he can tactically put pay to that as a learning I think he's just about there as a potential prem manager so at least one more season please big man...

You have raised a lot of issues there. To take just one for the moment, do you think that if we do relay the pitch, I think cheaply, we would agree to Sarries playing on it?

Yes ak, the ice will have cleared by then.

Maybe you can do a match commentary for us so that we can imagine that we are there.

Speaking of the U21s, how is Buckley not even in the 40 man preliminary squad?

Sure, playing him would be a little bit of a risk because you never know which one will turn up. But he is without question the most naturally talented under 21 outside the Premier League, Henri Lansbury included, and should surely be under consideration.

Sadly, my season is at an end now as I'll miss Saturday's game at Preston (well, most of it) - the Highland League fixture gurus have come up trumps with the final match of the season - 1 (Buckie Thistle) plays 2 (Deveronvale) with the winner crowned champions. All ticket match & I have mine in my hot little hand right now!

And football will fill my summer months too - it's what they call Gala time up here, where kids play in day long competitions virtually every weekend & my 11 year-old is polishing his boots in anticipation as we speak.

As to your pitch question, frenchie - no, tell them to get lost no matter what the cost of re-laying it is. I personally don't care what 'experts' may claim about egg-chasing not being responsible for the damage - my experience tells me otherwise. Unless, of course, they commit to an expensive re-lay when they do finally leave!

In response to the pitch discussion, I don't think we would even contemplate having rugby if the pitch is to be relaid cheaply. But my understanding (friend who went to one of the fan's forums said) that a like-for-like replacement would cost £750k. Realistically Sarries would need to contribute around the £4-500k mark, which those halfwits are unlikely to agree to, given that they think that in six or seven months they will get through the planning process and have the stadium up.

Well, Frenchie, I intend to occupy the summer months with the following:

    1. Sit in the garden with a glass of wine
    2. Watch a bit of cricket
    3. Sample Mrs H's excellent cooking
    4. Play out Watford's 2015 Champions League campaign in my head
    5. Write a best seller
    6. Climb Everest
    7. Row the Atlantic
    8. Learn to fly
    9. Save the world
    10. Turn down the offer of a life peerage

p.s. I do not always complete everything I set out to do.

What is the attendance likely to be BB?

Going back to another thread, a friend of mine was bankrupted by a team that plays in Scotland. He built a new stand for them, and they didn't pay. He obtained a judgement but they said they couldn't pay him. When the matter was investigated it seems that all of the gate receipts were going to directors expenses.

I am pleased to see that this thread is being taken in the light hearted manner intended. After the earlier discussions something less serious seemed to be called for.

As a final note to that thread, in France he is called Ben rather than Bin. Somehow seems less threatening.

Not a huge attendance by English standards but given the population here, quite impressive - the combined populations of Buckie and Banff total less than 12000. They've capped it at 2600. The scramble for tickets in Banff will be something to behold - with only 600 on offer. For the corresponding fixture last year when there was nothing at stake, Deveronvale took around 900 fans. The banter there is always good (if you can understand the local patois) - no segregation, no trouble - should be a good match too, a lot closer than the last time they met in January when D'vale won 7-0.
