Things are starting to settle down with our club and with the transfer window closing in a week I wonder what we can expect from Bristol City? With the fantastic win at the Riverside I wonder where that has left SC thoughts on what is required to make us more complete and able to compete in this division? Probably the surprising result against a pre-season tagged promotion candidate will not change the directions in which we will move and improve, but it just leaves me wondering whether the money bandied around when we were looking at spending 8 million is still in the bargaining purse. The close of the transfer window usually ends up with not much happening or teams spending even more ridiculous money on questionable talent. Because our summer transactions didn't hit dizzying heights I hope we don't fall foul to the last minute "bring in anybody at any cost". Steve Cotterill is now very savvy as to the way of things in the Championship transfer market and I'm sure the 2 deals that went sideways have left him a bit bruised and ready for some more realistic transactions. Go get em Steve.
Matej Vydra is the rumour, but in all honesty I would rather give Bradshaw a go less money etc. But the word is they want players who will go onto be premier class in a few years time. Dack I think is just a rumour of who the fans want not the club, he's let himself down with that court case.
Would love Tom Bradshaw on board, he's a natural finisher and lays the ball off well, 23 and well within our budget, would be a great addition to the squad
Bradshaw looks promising and you of course have a way better insight in to his worth and talent. Let's hope the confidence in him as a player, and generally positive comments on 606, lead to his signing.
I would take Vydra in a heartbeat. Proven goalscorer at this level which is what I thought we were looking for...
Vydra would be a far better option than Gayle or Gray, but didn't Watford only sign him on a permanent deal last month. So would they sell him so soon, or is the rumour for a season long loan?
Agreed that Vydra would be a great signing, but also that his very recently signing a 5 year deal makes it highly unlikely - we've done well with loan deals, but I'd rather we built a core of permanent signings and use the loan market to add depth, rather than use up many first team places (unless we could get someone truly special in). It may sound weird, but it may actually be kind of exciting us doing a decent amount of business this close to the transfer deadline - usually TDD involves reporters outside of Old Trafford, White Hart Lane and whatever club Harry Redknapp is at, so I'm looking forward to rumours that Jesse Lingard has been spotted at Temple Meads.
I just hope that our win at Middlesbrough hasn't made people at the club think we don't need reinforcements. Not 100% convinced about Naki Wells Vydra however is an excellent striker and if he was offered on loan we should be biting Watfords hands off..
Agree angelic, because it looks like Hooper may be heading to Sheff Wed. A proven striker is what we need and Vydra could fit the bill but we still need others if we are to survive the humps and bumps facing us this season.
