I think I was there. Stan Collymore stood out like a sore thumb. Quality. The same day the Grand National was void.
Was that the first home game of the 73/74 season after we'd won the FA Cup? I believe that was my first game
It is awful to admit it, but sometime in the early 60s, Brown manager I think I do remember us playing Manure, with Best, Law and Charlton in their side.
Mid 80's with my parents. Was either 0-0 or 1-0 to SAFC against either Bradford or Crystal Palace. I'd only been about 6-7 years old. My lasting memory was Gary Owers bombing down the wing. He looked our only decent player.
Just Google it and it was probably first game at home 73/74 v Orient drew 1-1 with the wonderful dashing Billy Hughes equaliser on 74 minutes. Attendance 28,211
My first game was a 1-0 win against Bradford City. John MacPhail scored for us. Could have been the same game
23rd August 1958. Travelled with uncle n cousin. First game outside top division. 3 bloody 1 we got beat. I got a clip cos team in red n white scored and I shouted. I went to see Don Kitchenbrand but my first fav player to see was Colin Grainger. I’ve been a jinx ever since I think. Still it’s been great
Can't remember. It was after we won the cup and we got beat 2-1 by Bristol City. I was 8 and went with me dad.
Mags at home around about 1967 or so.. I remember it was a 1-1 draw and there was loads of trouble.. I was with my dad that day..
I'll go against the flow here ... we actually won my first game! 1-0 against Oxford United at home, December 1975, Porterfield scored in the last minute.
Lincoln City, the season before (yes we got relegated for the first time ever) was my first full season, tho' I had been going off and on for 3 of 4 years before that with my old man.
