There is a bit of a chat on the Echo site on where you have been when listening to, or watching a Saints match. One springs to mind for me, I was on my wedding day in 1976 when Saints played Fulham, who had Best and Marsh playing, Saints won 4-1 and I think it was Best who got sent off. We were listening in the church yard and several of my guests considered that I should be hung from the bell tower and how could I get married in the football season.Luckily we all got very inebriated on the result and as I was paying I was forgiven!!

I visited family in Canada in 2004, one the day we were departing we went to a casino, & on a massive cinema screen they had 'Arrys first game in charge. Damn you Peter Crouch, you made a long journey much longer.

I was in Florida with my son then a ManU fan (hangs head in shame) and we were trying to find out the score for Saints v ManU. I asked the first person with an English paper and they said 6.3 to Southampton. My son wouldn't believe it and got me to ask another person who said the same thing. Ally still wouldn't believe it and I said to him, 'What are the chances that two unconnected people would make up a score like that?' I was a season ticket holder at the time and I'm still pissed off that I missed that one.

I was on holiday in the Greek town of Agios Nikolaos, basically in the middle of near nowhere on the Peloponesse. It was a fantastic place, quiet with a couple of tavernas and a small harbour. One of the Tavernas had a screen where they showed games and to my surprise I was walking by one evening when I saw Saints on there! Something tells me it was the Steve Wigley game vs Charlton, and it was a boring 0-0. Still, the experience was a good one, as was the Ouzo <ale>

I was on a canal (on a boat, one of those longboats, can't remember what they're called) listening to our 6-0 demolition of Wolves.

The Saints vs Wimbledon game a few years ago when Saints took thousands, and outnumbered the home crowd. We had already booked England U18 tickets at Wembley and there were two coachloads from our local youth football club, following the game by radio. The England game was pretty dull, but with a hundered of us cheering a saints goal like idiots whilst all around were looking puzzled.

I remember many years ago parking by the lake at Annecy in France where I had stopped whilst driving back from my holiday in Tuscany. I had tuned in to the World Service on the wireless and listened to the second half of the match between Saints and Blackburn Rovers just after Shearer has signed for them.

I can't remember the score but I do remember the spectacular scenery.

On another occasion I can remember taking a late holiday in Greece one year and watching an evening european game in a pair of shorts and a tee shirt in a taverna. A fortnight later when I was home I watched the return leg having just come in from a cold dark garden where I had been dressed up in a warm coat and gloves while setting off fireworks to amuse the children.

I was travelling when we got in the play offs in 2007, remember watching both the Derby games on Koh Tao in Thailand. An island which has a capacity of 1500 people at any one time, was watching it at about 5 AM in a bar and went ****ing mental when Rasiak scored in the 2nd leg to take it to extra time, the locals weren't too impressed :D

Watched the Millwall Fa cup tie 2003 (replay I think) in a bar i Canada. Went mental when we won and got a strange few looks. They don't support their sports teams like we do ours. Had a good laugh with the locals after and was gonna leave my shirt for them to put up but at -20 it would have been a chilly.

I might add though that I was only getting updates as we were 3 nil up and my Leeds supporting mate abused me as each Leedds goal went in to finsih 3-4 Leeds

Oh that dreaded Leeds match, I watched final score in Poole hospital a few days after my daughter was born. I thought, 'wow, a lucky child.' Half an hour later I scrapped that thought. <laugh>

Last year, I was coaching football to some local kids in the Maldives when we played Man Utd in the Cup, found a little hut where all the islanders gathered and watched the game. As predicted every one of them was a Man Utd fan. Outnumbered.

ok, ok, I've just remembered. When I went to Kenya last November with Saints Foundation, our mini bus broke down on the way back from a trip out; it was pitch black, and we were all getting a bit nervous as we were in the middle of nowhere in Kenyan countryside and sitting ducks. Then, all of a sudden someone's phone went "beep beep" and Rickie had scored the first agaisnt Brighton. The texts were soon flying in and the broken down mini bus erupted into a saints sing song..... brilliant.

I was on a drillship off the east coast of India when ManU beat us at SMS in 2005 , sending us to the Championship. At the time I felt like jumping overboard - looking back now, it was maybe the catalyst for the best thing to have happened to us.
