We have Gyan, Wickham and Dong-won. I'm not going to count Noble (loan to championship like Henderson and Colback?) and Campbell (Could well be missing for majority of the season). So what do we need?

Do we need to spend big or hunt for a bargain? Do we need a target man, a hard worker, a prolific goalscorer, an all-round striker?

Arsenal have been linked with a bid for Kevin Doyle this morning. Don't know whether he's good enough for a title challenging side but I'd take him! Not the most prolific goalscorer but he's a decent player, hard worker and would provide the 'target man-like' qualities alongside Gyan.

DJ Campbell would add goals and would be decent in the squad but who would be first team alongside Gyan then?

I reckon we could be in for a striker totally out of the blue. Like Gyan last year. We signed him after literally a day or two of hearing about him linked with us.

Doyle £12m what a joke. For that there must be a fairly large choice available.. But who we get ????? Anyone's guess at the moment.

Don't forget the ACN, so no Africans please.

I think if we got a big target man who can score 10 + goals it would allow Gyan to probs score more than he did last year. Gyan has the ability to pull something out of nothing and more than often he was providing assists for others. If that responsibility was taken off him/shared and he stays injury free i can see him getting 15+.

Sad, but true - we can't have our two key strikers out for 4 weeks.

For me Rodellega or someone like Odemwingie. I'm sure there's a few names on the 'someone like Bendtner' thread.

Pretty sure Odemwingie is from Nigeria, in Africa.....

I like Rodellega, think he'd be a cracking buy.

can't wait for the ACN, just as well I own a #3 Ghana shirt! Wonder how much Rodellega would cost though DW will probably quote us £15m regardless...

I'd see his value is about £8million, so we'd need to pay closer to 10.

I've always got the impression that Rod would get a decent amount of goals in a a stronger side, he's a good finisher, and very 'busy'.

I think wickham could be the big man Quinny was talking about at the end of last season. he's 6'3 and a handfull for centre backs so I think he'd be going for the first ball looking to link it up to gyan. That alone puts gyan in a better position to score goals. I think the signing of wickham has opened up the possibilities when it comes to who we look to bring in. We could bring in a small quick goalscorer like defoe as we have the option of a big man to change it up in wickham or even dong won (think he will have Ji on his back maybe) Or if bruce doesn't think wickham is ready to start the Majority of games then a solid big man may be what they look for so we can blood wickham carefully. the pogrebnyak rumour was very interesting.

Yes, Odemwingie (was born in Russia oddly enough) is Nigerian which would rule him out, for different reasons, as should Bendtner imho, maybe Pavyulchenko too on account of a huge hit they take on their wages (Defoe/Crouch too) for that reason, I wouldn't want any of them.

Someone like Odemwingie would be bang on, if we cannot get someone such as Rodellega for around 12 million*?

Think rodellega would be decent for assists. Think our scoring will improve all round next season with 4-5 players hitting 10-15 goals. Hope so anyway

I would take Roddy from Wigan like. Cracking player. I would also have Carlos Vela or Bendtner from Arsenal. Perhaps Dean Sturridge would be worth a punt, but I would love to sign Wellbeck, and I woujld also have Big Kenwyne back.

    Welbeck will do just fine.

    Great partnership with Gyan.

    Everyone happy, lots of goals.

Has someone has been on the funny cigartettes again. This is wrong on so many levels?

Jones next move will be to the championship or lower. He simply isnt good enough to play EPL football.

Jones has found his level with Stoke IMO. They are the perfect club for him. All to his head. The team is built with him being tailor made to fit in. He had that long drought last year but still got himself a half decent return. We have built a pacey team that should be capable of playing everything along the deck and Jones would be lost in it. Still quite like to see the guy do well though
