Just a thought that i would like to put to you the Chelsea fans... Well done on last night, a wins a win and i think you played well. But what do you think that Torres was really trying say that has got the whole media world jumping, well i have a thought... When i a new manager comes in to any team he must have an idea of what his vision is, what style of play he wants, who he wants to play etc, etc... So if AVB came in and said that when ive looked at the tapes of your performances last year, and said i want to change a few things that i think will get us bak to the top. We need to move the ball quicker, get the ball up to the frontline quicker and be a bit more direct at times. The old stlye chelsea has to change as some other sides are catching us up and with passing us... Now i dont think that is exactly what AVB has said to your players but i think thats what Torres has heard from your manager and made him realise that it would benefit his style of play and has bought into AVB's plans. So when he mentions the slow, old players/way of the past i think yet again its a bit lost in translation from what AVB has said. From the outside i still watch Torres and want him to do well, he was superb at Liverpool and did and said all the right things. I cant honestly see him openly criticising his team mates like the media are reporting... Ive not dug into what exactly Torres has said but i doo feel you have a top class striker and he will get back to form eventually. Do you think that AVB has or will change your style of play to bring out the best of Torres or do you think its a lost case and when Drogba gets back its going to be a Drogba + Sturridge forward line anyway... Your thoughts would be grateful... ps - I like Sturridge very much and he is only going to get better, he is a real gem within your side...
I haven't read the interview translation itself, but from what else I've read and heard, it sounds like it was a translation issue where he was talking about the style of play and not the players themselves. Media being what they are they saw the opportunity for a story and ran with it.
