Hello all, Just got back from 2 weeks in Mexico today! Seems we have had a very busy and successful day... The only question I'm left asking is what does the Murphy signing signal for young Dawson who is supposed to be the next player to come through the ranks? Thoughts people... MOT
High hopes for Dawson, but he'll probably start the season out on loan, and maybe come back and be eased into the team from January onwards. Think Poleon and Thompson will be the young players to make a big impact this year
I thought Dawson looked somewhat weak when he played last season. I think he needs some time out on loan preferably to a league 1 club and not any lower
Wasn't he Leeds' best player in one of the matches at the back end of the season. Good question though, but I think he might keep him and send out one or two of the older guys such as Norris, who are on ahigher salaries.
I think, like Josh, that bringing Murphy in gives us a great chance to get Dawson out on loan and playing regularly. Even if only for the first half of the season initially. Byram did fantastically stepping up last year but we can't be sure all of our youngsters will cope with the expectation and pressure of playing every week. A stint on loan might be exactly what he needs to get him ready to become a key part of the squad
Happy to see Dawson go out on loan (maybe to Crewe?) and build his strength and stamina. Nothing like an extended run of full on competitive games. Worked wonders for Lees, and Dawson seems to have the right attitude. Poleon also needs a loan spell but at a club that will play him every game, maybe Lge Two?
Agree Billy, Dawson needs to bulk up a bit, he could hang around with me for a while and get him on the cider/ale/steak/pizza diet....
I really hope that he does get in the team... It much better our youth players coming through although I am really happy about Murphy signing!
Maybe Dawson could play in a role further forward, just off the striker? 2 central midfielders behind him would help him out as well, knowing he has two players to compensate for any mistakes he makes would be reassuring and would allow him to express himself more on the pitch. Murphy alongside a fully fit Austin looks a decent pairing in the centre as well!
I haven't seen Dawson play myself, but I've often heard it said by coaches that the best way to break in a CM is to play him wide, as it's a little quieter there. You never know. Does he have pace? (I'm thinking makeshift winger, in case you're wondering where I'm going with this).
