Wife’s uncle was admitted to hospital yesterday and he lives alone . The dog he has is a 8-9 yr Blue Merle Border Collie who is now looking for a new home but we have tried countless refuges and charities but can’t get her placed - anyone on the forum got any ideas where we can get Lady placed as we seem to going round and round in circles. Friendly dog that acts more like a 3-4 year old . Anyone you know who fosters dogs as that would be another option as unfortunately we are not able to keep her ourselves as we have too many commitments .
We took my daughters dog to Brysons Animal Shelter in Gateshead mate, just past Springwell. They were spot on and sorted it really quickly. Gateshead Animal Shelter - Bryson's Animal Shelter (brysons.org.uk) Hopefully the link works
My son and his girlfriend have been trying to get a rescue dog for ages, but they seem to put so many obstacles in the way. I've just rang him to see if he would take it (I really thought he would as we have a border collie), but they have been that pissed off by the rescue places they have just put a deposit down on a cocker spaniel. Two grand for a dog....I despair. Hope you get it sorted mate....I wish I could have took it. Another shout for Brysons, ive had dogs from there in the past, and they are spot on. Hope the uncle is OK.
Is it going to be a permanent move for the dog or a temporary one whilst he is in hospital. Just so I can approach someone with the full details.
Thank you for taking the time to read my post and a special thank you for those who offered possible solutions , we managed to get essentialy a stray charity to rehouse her after three days of trying . We were in contact with social services , police , and getting on to twenty local and national charities before getting someone to take on the dog . It is ironic that the owner has given a number of animal charities hundreds if not thousands of pounds but when they were asked for help none was forthcoming until we eventually found someone to help .
I guess it is just a terrible sign of how many lockdown pups have filled up the animal shelters this year and how much they have lost in funding.
It's been horrendous. There's never been so many dogs unwanted and it's all to do with the lockdowns and restrictions finishing. It should become law that anybody buying or rehoming a dog to then return it without an exceptional circumstance should be prosecuted and stopped from owning animals. I'm involved with a dog shelter and I wont sicken you with the details but there's been some horrendous situations that have happened over the last 18 months.
Found a kitten hiding in the garden just over two years ago. Shelters wouldn't take it. Understandably probably chocca bloc. With two dogs that hate cats it was awkward but couldn't leave the little fooker out in the cold Had the fookin thing booked in the vets to get spayed but it jumped out the bathroom window onto conservatory, one fookin day it was out and ended up with 3 kittens ffs. Managed to home two black n white bastids to a nephew. (Should of give him the cat in the first fookin place ) But kept one. Well I had too, he's all black. Called him Sunny (Sunderland black cat ) He's a fat lazy greedy twàt The dogs still attack them at times even though Sunny is twice the size of the smallest dog
With all due respect I did pm u 2 days ago and had no reply where a local rescue charity were able to assist
Apologies for that but we had been extremely busy with hospital visits as well as our normal commitments and of course the dog , was remiss of me not to get back to you . Just thankful that we found what we hope will be a good home for Lady .
