don't worry i'm not on about selling the beast just found this about what's pardews plans for the absence of tiote during the ACoN

Is Mehdi the right man to replace such an important player? Do you think it should be somebody else?

I dont think Guthrie is an appropriate replacement (even though I do rate him) as he isnt a defensive midfielder, and Gosling is a workhorse, but not in Tiote's class. Have only seen bits and pieces of Abeid but he looks very tidy and Pardew is the one who sees him every day.

Abeid is more box-to-box than defensive.. but I think he could fill Tiote's boots IMO. <ok>

Good passer, can tackle and can score a few aswell. Very promising talent to say the least.

Yep, if he is told to just sit and let Yohan attack then I'm sure he would do the job for the month

He likes to take control of the game and dictate play, him and Cabaye could really be brilliant together. Also, he is quite defensive when played in the centre and attacking when on the wing, so I don't see the problem with him taking up the role.

I really like the sound of this. Abeid is young, exciting and very, very impressive! As much as I think Guthrie and Gosling are decent, if I was an opposition player, their names on a team sheet wouldn't really worry me...Abeid is an unknown entity and therefore difficult to plan against!

Yeah, I don't think Pardew fancies Guthrie or Gosling either. Seem to be frozen out as Smith was on bench above them yesterday

Won't be Alan Smith, confident of that. Pardew knows he has better options than Smith. Abeid would be a good call though, he's apparently surprisingly great defensively. Looking forward to seeing more of the lad since he's supposed to be awesome.

I think it will be him too, seems like most teams are using their younger players atm which is really good - shame none are English haha

Haha yeah, I couldn't give a toss about internationals though really and as long as we have players who know what it means to play for us and enjoy doing so, I'm happy! That said, it gives a certain extra proud feeling when you see Saylor, Shola, Sammy or Harper on the pitch.
