Pochettinho has said that 'nobody is sure that they are staying at the club' as he picks over the ruins of yet another season where having spent mega bucks, the spuds have again failed to achieve anything like the huge outlay would suggest they might. After wasting the Bale money on Donkeys such as Soldado, Paulinho, Capoue and Lamela (who admittedly all looked good before they joined the spuds) it seems as though Poch is planning a summer clear out. Although Poch himself is guilty of signing some dross in Stambouli, Fazio and Davis. So the question is can these players regain their former form and flourish at a club that will bring out the best in them and if you had a choice which players would you take at your club ? Harold Kane is the obvious choice, although he's yet to prove he's more than a three quarter of one season wonder. The Spuds may well sell him to fund another spending spree. I can see him ending up at Utd or Chelsea although as an Arsenal fan, he would of course be welcome at the Emirates. Lloris is probably the banker for the Spuds, there would be plenty of big clubs that would come in for his signature. The players I would consider at Arsenal are: Kane Erikson Lloris http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32746911
I'm not sure any would definitely get in our side. Eriksen and Kane are obviously close but I don't think either would actually improve our first 11. If you're looking more at the squad then that's different.
Another hilarious thread from the site's premier wum-mod! Okay, I'll play along... There is absolutely no doubting that players like Lloris, Walker, Dier, Vertonghen, Rose, Bentaleb, Mason, Chadli, Eriksen, and Kane could walk into all but the top 1% of clubs in the world, and that several others would find homes at clubs in the next tier down from us. Therefore, your post is a bit pointless, PISKIE (as you well know). None of those players I have mentioned by name would, I am certain, be on a clear-out list, and Levy would sell only in the event that (a) the player puts in a transfer request, and (b) we get top-dollar for him. The players likely to be got shot of are those that everyone can see haven't made it at the club, such as Soldado, Lamela, Capoue, and other players who have faded, such as Adebeyor and Dembele. The agony we fans always face, though, is that Levy (knowing full well that these players are ****e for the club) will still insist on placing a premium price-tag on their heads, so we'll end up with them on our books and choking our wage-bill for yet another season. The best I can hope for is that players like Soldado and Lamela can be loaned out to one of the larger clubs abroad, so as to defray the wage bill. And let's put one little fact to bed... Kane is going nowhere! You know it, I know it, the cat knows it. It's an obvious and pointless wum-attempt to suggest otherwise, so please, people, save your breath.
Don't shoot the messenger HIAG. It is your own manager who is talking about potentially every player being shown the door. Getting upset with me isn't going o help
HIAG do you think Spurs will sell Kane and Lloris or just one of them to find this latest edition of Spurs' rebuilding ? I reckon you'd get £25m-£30m for Lloris as he's the finished article but Kane has still only had three quarters of one season and is yet unproven, especially at a big club. I reckon £20m and you should bite the hand off of whoever offers that. As for soldado £5m if you're lucky, same for Paulhino. £2m for capoue and you're going to take a big hit in the £30m you paid for Lamela, you'll be lucky to recoup a third of that back.
I'd like to see Kane do it again before being 100% Eriksen I'd have Lloris again I'm not 100% Vertonghen is a good defender so would be a consideration and as far as younger talent goes Tom Carroll who's on loan at Swansea, I'm a big fan he's got a bit of everything.
I think we'd have trouble holding on Lloris, if he's determined to leave - which he may not be, as he's clearly guaranteed first slot in goal at the Lane. Sure, he might want to go to a team that's going to guarantee him titles and cups, but those teams already have the crop of the world's best goalies, anyway, and he'll never be guaranteed a start. To be honest with you, I would care much if he stays or leaves, since I think Vorm is more than good enough to take his place, even assuming that we don't find an equally proficient replacement. As for Kane, he's just broken into the first team and has signed a new 5 year contract. Levy won't sell him, and if he did, that would tell Poch (and any other decent manager) everything they needed to know about the club's ambitions. It isn't going to happen. So, that only leaves Kane putting in a transfer request and forcing a move away from the club that has nurtured him and looked after his family since he was 11 years old. If he stays at Spurs, he'll be club captain one day. Why would he want to leave at this stage of his career? I'm not naive enough to believe that his head couldn't be turned if a major club started to make the right noises, but I can't see it happening this Summer, and, if it did, I cannot see Kane leaving for at least another season. And, if he improves next season, Levy is more likely to offer him an improved contract than to let his star striker go. I'm sure that one of the reasons Levy has held off buying a striker for silly money is because he was more than aware of Kane's potential.
If Spurs can get a silly fee for Kane (£30m+) they'd be nuts not to sell IMO. Could be setting myself up for an HIAG-esque fail but I don't think he'll be half as highly rated in a year or two as he is now.
I'm not saying Lloris is better or worse but is he so much better that I'd want him? I'm not a huge fan of Lloris. What are your thoughts on Tom Carroll?
You might be right. He undoubtedly has talent, IMO. This season he was pretty much an unknown quantity, next season they'll be looking for him. As I say, he has the talent and the right attitude, a lot will depend on what support can be brought in for him. Apart from that, Piskie's assessment is probably about right. Looking at our current squad, those are the only three that any top 4 club may have an interest in. Bentaleb could well be one for the future, though.
On Carroll, he needed to get stronger. Was a good player, but pushed off the ball too easily. Haven't seen much of him last season, but hopeful when he comes back. Alex Pritchard excites me more to be honest.
Haven't seen Pritchard but have watched Carroll a few times, I agree he does need to get stronger to play in midfield but on the ball he's very good, his positioning is also class for a young lad and he can pass the ball.
Eriksen, Kane, Lloris and Vertongen - yes. Spurs have some good players. Its the fans and their weak minds that cause the club to fail.
