I get the feeling that after the Rogers saga, the Martinez saga has largely been forgotten about. There have been reports about how we'd struggle without Rogers because of the brand of football he had us playing, and we've all come out in defence of the fact that it was Roberto's baby. So will our fans go a bit easier on Martinez now that there's a new panto villain to boo?
I hope we've moved on ,to me he's just the opposition manager who I hope we'll get three points off and send him back up the M6 with his tail between his legs (I'm over it honest doc)
Hope is reception is just the normal reception any visiting manager get's. Don't think there's any need for any animosity & unneeded attention. Let's hope the Jacks' focus on our own team. He's a massive part of why we are where we are after all!! He's a very good manager too!!! Also, as far as I'm concerned, he didn't proffess to be, "Once a Jack, always a Jack, after he left!!"....
Agree. We should have moved on by now. There will be some fans here today who won't be able to help themselves, but every club has it's numpty.
Some like myself still bear a grudge but no point in booing him, best just to completely ignore him and instead fully back our Danish manager and the team.
Martinez is out of our system, Think most dont give a **** for him now, most got it out of their system in the away cup game and got clser from that
I was at the Wigan game as well and he certainly got both barrels from our fans, suppose I'm not the forgiving type as he caused our club major problems walking away as he did but we've progressed beyond what we would have done had he stayed. Would still like to see us beat his team convincingly down here today as we did at the DW stadium last season when it looked like he nearly lost his job.
What sort of reception will Bobby have today? I hope we give him a great reception. Roberto has not a bad word to say about us ever since he left and we owe it to him big time for starting us off on the type of football that has stood us in great stead, He will always be a fan of Swansea city and after wigan we are his favorite team......He don't deserve any abuse whatsoever from any fan because if you do then you have very short memories that's all i can say.....old brown shoes is a decent man a great manager and a great captain for us. he was not the most skillful player for us but what he lacked as a player he made up for as one of the best captains we have had....
The feeling on this thread is mostly "Who cares, I don't". I am really happy that I didn't here Martinez' name once during the game. After Sheffield Wed V Leeds on Friday, footie fans have been made to look like some of the ogres from the 80's. Thankfully, that isn't us (anymore).
Agreed, I'm glad we've moved on. I did hear a chat try to get going but it was dumbed out which I find more notable than if none were started at all. Gomez had some stick though, and although I haven't seen the replay of his dig at Vorm yet, I would say he deserved the stick for that
Gomez did us a favour with his clumsy barge on Vorm, that slowed the game right done and gave us a chance to regroup. although we were ripe for a counter and with a quicker ball out could have created a scoring opportunity but by then I was just glad to see the pressure off us, I was waiting for gomez to come flying into the box and take a chance on going down .
Yeah I suppose as you put it like that. It was a relief to hear the final whistle, but I felt that if Vorm had got it out quick and found a white shirt it would have been 3, and as my bet was for 3-1 it's the scenario I would have preferred
