This is an artcle I have just read: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...pise-factor-after-drawing-with-Blackpool.html and this is a thread a posted a couple of weeks ago: http://www.not606.com/content.php/1654-Time-for-a-rethink-Nigel So what should we do?
Recycle an old article? Panic? Fire Nigel? Beat our breasts on footy forums? For myself, I will do nothing as my opinion is never canvassed at St Mary's.
Yes teams have done their homework on us and have tried to stifle us, most have been unsuccessful. We obviously do our homework on them as well but at the end of the day, its 11 against 11 and I believe our best 11 is better than anyone elses in this league. Unfortunately your best 11 is not always available, the recent injuries of Chaplow, Lambert, Davis and also Connally have no doubt cost us points. My answer to your question is we need to improve our squad, NA and NC will undoubtedly be on the case come January
Well it is true what Rickie is saying. We have been a surprise and caught other teams out, but this is a major opportunity of another promotion which we wouldn't replicate next season (if still in the Championship) NA and the team know what to do
Holloway really is a bitter little turd. The 5mins that were added on were prob for the fact that Blackpool started time wasting after 55mins! Teams may not be surprised by us anymore but that doesn't mean we can't also adapt. Trust in NA and the lads
Agree with Holloway at the end there, the referee should have done his job....there should have been six minutes of injury time, not five!
Carry on supporting the team and trusting in Nigel. They may have sussed us but we are still top. It's also a compliment that other teams have to alter their style to play us...suggests we might be a slightly useful team. Wouldn't take much notice of yesterdays game..2 soft goals combined with lack of trust in the GK made us lose our way. Any other day we'd have beaten Blackpool.
What should we do? Not panic for a start. If anyone is feeling really down about recent results, I have a couple suggestions; a) Check out the league table, top end. b) Cast ones mind back three short years.
I like the stat that was here yesterday, which stated that we are only two points behind our whole 2008/09 total.
Don't know why he's moaning about the amount of stoppage time and s scoring in it. They time wasted for most of it 2/3mins Blackpool goal 1min 5 substitutions (theoretically refs use 30secs per sub) 2.5mins Should have had about 5/6 so about right Plus we scored in the 2nd min of added time so it really had nothing to do with the amount that was added on...
No one has really answered the question have they? If Rickie's right and the recent dip in form is due to the style of play becoming predictable, then the obvious answer is to try and become unpredictable again. Alter the tactics. I'd like to see some shots coming in from distance. And why is Rickie not shooting from free kicks? Also someone need to have a go at Fox and tell him to stop playing those long balls from LB to RM. It never seems to pay off. I still prefer Harding.
Quite right. From the Guardian today: Their away displays (Saints) have been unconvincing – they have lost their past two – and if their home ones start going the same way they will relinquish the position at the top of the Championship that they have held since the start of the season. So long as they have Lambert, however, Southampton will be dangerous.
Not sure Nigel has to change tactics exactly.......I think it is more that the team have got to spring their own surprises. They have become too predictable in what they do. They start a move by letting the opposition know in which direction the ball is going. There is often good running off the ball but certain midfielders are not always on the look out for the gaps that are being created by the running off the ball. Some players in my opinion have stopped being complete team players and at times go for glory when others are better placed Guly is guilty of that as is De Ridder. Spider actually lacks shooting confidence and goes the other way sometimes.
