Because we whinge and moan; grumble and complain; shout and scream and throw our toys out of the pram yet, come next ko, the shouts of support are loud including 'Sparky, Sparky, give us a wave' etc etc. Are we just a sad liitle group of techno fans who do not represent majority of fans?
Well said and this has been my problem ... This board is great don't get me wrong but its entertainment with a social media hook. I came on here as I went for a job with the club and thought i needed to research .. I loved the banter and it cheers up my day but it does not come close to the real world to me if i am honest. We have become cyber brothers and its all about having a laugh for me. If we were all appraised on here as fans as if it was an occupation then most of us would face the sack ... I love the characters on here even Swords the Liverpool supporter
13.86%............ Actually there aren't all that many regular posters, but I reckon we get near enough the full span of Rs opinion. Our pub conversations go on a bit longer than the real ones, but at least nobody gets shouted down, or glassed. As Hoppy says, it's a laugh and as long as you don't fall into the trick of believing its either real or important, then long may it continue!
Do not understand why somebody would start a thread like this, who cares about percentages or what other people think - many interested people around, some spending too much time here but most seem to be genuine R´s. Let´s see what happens if we will go down...
Isn't it more a case of there being a time and a place for things? I know for us McLean gets more flack from me on messageboards than any other player we've had for a long time, but when he's playing I support him because he's more likely to improve through being encouraged than being slagged to **** by the crowd.
I think it's less about actual percentages and more about whether our little Not606 community ir truly representative of the QPR fanbase. For me I think we are starting to get swamped by a lot of over the top knee-jerk reactionary types (both positive and negative) and maybe the more even tempered amongst us get a bit lost. But this is what life is like on the R's rollercoaster.
The reason I asked the question is because after discussion on this board, there have been times when I half expected the team to be booed as they walk on the pitch! The spleen vented on this message board is rarely represented at games by the majority of fans hence the original question.
Personally i think we have a vary varied cross section of supporters on this board. i dont think this is thwe most popular in the way of numbers, but its variation is immense. consider this, we have the die hard ST never miss a game types, The Ridiculously intelligent fans who go when able, the international fans who can only make a few a season or none, the WUM's, The "older" generation who remeber the 40's 50's 60's etc, General fans who just like our club without being fanatical, the likes of Ric DL and other fans from other clubs, Good match reporters ala Judo etc, a lot of very occaisional posters AND we have CernyBerny who fits into a catagory all of his own. Thats what i like about this board, It really is so diverse and everyone (even CB) gets a fair say...now what they do with that say is up to them...! Yes Flyer, I'm including you mate !
I think the whinging and moaning is a natural expression following a below par performance. This board gives us a platform to do that. Something we didn't have up until a couple of seasons ago. The extent of that frustration and disappointment takes various individuals varying lengths of time until they get themselves up for the next game. And so goes the constant schizophrenic cycle that comes with being a Rangers fan. It's not always like that though, most notably after the City game. Even though we lost, the vast majority of posts remained upbeat and positive. That was due to the commitment and level of the performance of the team. I think most fans on here would buy into that, if they saw the players giving it their all week in week out. It's when you get a hapless performance like one on Sunday that pisses fans off, especially after shelling out hundreds of pounds for the privilege. All we really ask is that the players give 100%, the same as we do. When they don't, we have every right to criticise them. It's not as if they read our posts anyway. So you can say what you like really. We're only posting on here for us anyway.
All I can say on this is that I've met 6 of these so-called techno QPR fans since joining the board and they are all honest, well versed, Rangers fans. They know the game, know the Club, appreciate its history, they remember the players, know when to cheer and know when not to. They know when it's their turn to go to the bar and know where the nearest ATM to the Queen Adelaide is. They have travelled to games in most of the Divisions and some travel internationally to get to LR. You can also be sure that the International Techno Rs would be season ticket holders if the miles didn't preclude them from doing so. So, in summary, the Techno Rs were exactly what I thought......honest to goodness Rs fans who appreciate mixing with fellow Rs! Why else would they waste their time on this schizophrenic site, huh? Footnote: this is not a controlled, statistically sound study but, I would guess, that the rest of you on here are as bonkeRs as the 6 eluded to above!
In decades of supporting Rangers, family and friends aside, I've never known the pleasure of reading and discussing my club with so many Rs. Don't spend much time in pubs these days. So for me it's been a real revelation on here, what with the character / community buzz an' all. The thing is, whilst we have plenty to say about them Rs at all other times, come match day it's different. For the next two hours or so we're suddenly all believers again! I doubt any of us are interested in what happened last week... for us the future starts here and now. Just need an early goal! There's no doubt the net's added a new dimension to our football lives. Wasn't that long ago I'm rooting 'round looking for a media crumb here and there about our club - and getting little more than the result and a quick shot of the goal(s), all too often against us. Nowt but premier stuff anywhere. Now, even if we do go down, this place will be here to give us as much news and views as we deal with - 24/7/356! Can't be bad eh?!!
That's a great response, Corker! I knew it would happen. We lose to Chelsea and suddenly there's a profusion of self-doubt...
As we speak, Roller (could there possibly be an abler man for such an enterprise?) is working on an article, part of which deals with that very subject Brix. I'm looking forward to reading his finished composition.
Yes agree, particularly about the net adding the new dimension - the only down side for me is a slight sense of guilt that, as a result, I don't buy as many "A kick up the R's" as I used to. That's a reminder to me to buy one at the Stoke game
The thing with the 'Kick up the R's' rag is that it's at least a week out of date. What we read on here has already been discussed and buried on here days ago, and we've moved on to more current topics. I feel slightly guilty as I used to love the the Rangers rag mags, and used to buy them regularly ( 10 years ago. ) But now I see them selling them outside the ground and feel a slight pang of angst to buy one out of sympathy. I'm sorry to say it... but that ship has long sailed sister. With this site we get our fix within seconds of it being known, except for Cernys predictions, but they still remain a great source of amusement.
