http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ke-football-clubs-writing-debts.html?ITO=1490 Admin is such an easy choice for a pathetic club owner or board. When you see how much it rips of the community, it is actually criminal. People responsible for clubs going into admin should be held to account and banned from football for life. I hope we never end up in admin, but at least we saw our club fight to stay clear of this parasitic way to clear debts. I hope we continue to do so. Still, we all know we are not doing that great in the finances department. We have managed to steer clear of discussing our finances this season, but it does still worry me quite a lot! I am not focusing on the clubs for going into admin, just the tossers who are meant to be running them. These people run the club into the ground, while protecting their own assets. Hang them I say!! But it does sound like the taxman is fighting back! http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/...012/feb/21/rangers-tax-warning-football-clubs
* The average basic pay for Premier League players smashed the £1m mark for the first time in 2009/10. * Despite the recession, the basic pay for Premier League stars has *increased 62% since 2005. * Even the lower paid players earn more than the national average wage of £26,000 — in under two weeks. How much have player salaries increased? - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ier-League-wages-FIVE-times-Championship.html
Football has a massive problem with finances ( the people in charge of the port vale administration Begbies Traynor has said that most clubs are in poor financial mainly because of players wages ) it's a difficult thing to understand nobody would put money into businesses that pay it's employees more then it makes but they do with football clubs , most owners of football clubs know that the chances of making money out of it as a business venture is slim ( how many clubs make a profit ? ) yet they still do, Wouldn't go down the route of blaming the players , their playing years are finite and how many of us would turn down the chance of earning what they earn or securing the best wages ?Fans expect there clubs to be competitive and successful and that means expense at whatever level of football you are at. For the amount of money that swills around football it amazes me what goes on with football clubs in general ( would never be able to operate my business like clubs are run ) Would love to be smart enough to think of a solution to all of this but greater minds then mine have tried and failed ,the solution I feel lies with FIFA the FA and other governing bodies but what that is .......
I agree that it is not the players fault. After all, who would say no to a huge pay rise. But obviously financial isues are close to home. I still worry about the debt. I mean, how is it ever meant to go away. If we did get promoted, I imagine nearly every penny would be used towards lowering debt, which doesn't fill me with confidence to stay up. There si no easy solution because quite frankly it is not human nature to give back something you have. Can you imagine saying to players that you no longer get paid.England has to do it itself I think. Impose a salary cap and if players don't want to play here for less money promote younger players and British players!
Wasn't there a proposal to limit outgoings against income. You can only spend 80% of your income on player wages or some such. Funny that you have to impose the rule, most businesses work that way out of neccessity. It has got out of hand. I think our owners are heading that way out of choice. May limit us in the short term, but will be of significant benefit in the long ter.
CCFC Yes, UEFA Financial Fair Play is due to come into force 2013/14. See link below: - http://www.uefa.com/uefa/footballfirst/protectingthegame/financialfairplay/index.html It has also been adopted by the Football league for this season although slightly changed: - http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/jun/10/football-league-uefa-fair-play However, those mega rich clubs like Manc City with their "in house" ground naming rights will work hard to find ways around this. It could be that our apparent reluctance to spend recently is an effort to conform with the rules.
Looking forward to seeing how it works...and to see if new relegated clubs with their parachute payments have an even bigger advantage!!!
no news is good news for CCFC when it comes to financial crap as for players wages, its down to TV money. it forms about 80% of the bottom half PL clubs revenue, and as we all know, due to fan and media pressure, any pound that comes into the club is immediately spent. the TV money increases and therefore so do wages and transfer fees. look at newcastle selling carroll. the fans are demanding that every last penny is spent, despite the fact that the owner is trying to instil a bit of financial reality into the club. football defies logic. QPR's current wage / turnover ratio is 180% at the moment. clubs like QPR, man city, and chelsea in the past come in and distort the market by inflating wages. average players wages go up and up, which is what annoys me. i'd be more appalled at seeing wayne bridge on 100k a week than messi on 500k. as for going into administration. i agree with the life ban. its disgusting that HMRC is not a secured creditor. how is it legal that football debts are always settled yet others arent?
Swamp It's not what you know, it's who you know. HMRC are chomping at the bit to change this. That could be very bad news for any clubs with current tax/VAT arrears. Hope we are now behaving properly. Could be why the owners are still pumping money into the club. By the way, totally off topic, Phil Stant has been on Talksport for the last 20 minutes or so talking about his Falklands experience and football career. What a great guy, total respect!!!
