I'm tired of ER running all of the polls on here - so I thougt of a real humdinger to show him up. I really like car parks and once saw one in Melton Mowbray that was so beautiful I was humbled awe-struck by its aesthetic beauty and inherent simplicity. IT was simply beautiful in a manner that cannot be expressed or recreated in words.
The car park at the Melton Mowbray Sainsbury is mint. Having said that, the whole store is the nuts and has a wonderful feel about the place. Check out the Morrisons in Falkirk; it was built on the site of the old Brockville Stadium and still has a solitary turnstile in the car park.
Buchanan Galleries in Glasgow does take some beating but I remember one in germany that had an elevator that took your car to the roof. Brilliant so it was. The Car Parks in Minority Report with Tom Cruise, and I Robot with Will Smith were also great but I don't think they exist.
I'm not sure I like car parks very much. Cars need to be allowed to roam free in their natural environment as, ahem, nature intended. They shouldn't be cooped up, probably stressed and dysfunctional due to the effects of captivity.
I can't abide car parks. During the great storms of 1987 i found myself trapped in one near Castle Carey library with Colin Cowdrey, Auberon Waugh and Nana Misskouri. That woman's encyclopaedic knowledge of the sexual proclivities of the armadillo was staggering. I still have cold sweats about that evening now.
Is that the one with the cobbles and the butchers that makes his own great pies? That's a cracking one to be fair.
Tricorn Portsmouth. It's gone now, but was once voted Britain's 3rd ugliest building. please log in to view this image
