Hi, looking for opinions from the Arsenal faithful. Whats next? Was this season a success for you or was it a failure or can you see the positives amongst the pile of despair? Personally I think you should be to some extent quite pleased with this season. You have had some great results against Chelsea, Barcelona and have reached a cup final. Yes you lost but you got their. its a step forward. Even Barcelona had to battle much harder for the win this season. You are going in the right direction but maybe its time for Wenger and Arsenal to part ways or if not, Arsene Wenger to pull his thumb out, admit his style isnt right and adapt. He wouldnt need a full scale revamp. just add the grit.
Spend some money on some decent players. A commanding CB to get the back 5 sorted out for times where they would fall apart and then a world-class GK that doesn't make mistakes three times a season. I think once you have those two, you can seriously contest for the PL.
Anymore meaningless, blindingly obvious, boring, cliched answers you want to give? Why don't you mention 6 years without a trophy too?
In fairness, those are valid questions that have needed answered for some time. Sczczczceznzzzny looks like a good keeper but Arsenal still do need a CB in my view. Even with Vermaelen back, is your back 4 as good as United's or Chelsea's? I still think you fall short by some margin. And if you want to be the best , you need to be better than the rest, not just competent. Arsenal have an embarrassment of riches in a creative sense in the middle of the park but could do with another solid influence there to compliment Song (who I rate highly). You also really need another striker to take the weight off RVP's shoulders, especially with his injuries, which will inevitably affect him at some point in the season.
I didn't mean obvious in that way, I meant it in that almost everyone one who comes on here and tells us what we need to be champions says that. It is just the easy thing to say given that pundits always talk about our bad defence. It is not insightful at all and I am tired of hearing it.
But its annoying when everyone tells us the same thing, but act like they are the 1st person to come up with it. Besides I have always said that our 4 current defenders are good enough, it is a commanding DM that we need who can protect our back 4
I agree, the only real problem is our insistence on attack attack attack without a thought to the defence
I can actually see the positives in this season. Despite us failing at the last hurdle again, i think wenger will spend and strengthen, because this has happened for 2-3 seasons now, so that's a positive. Also we have more points at this stage than last season, so again that's a positive. Also, whilst our CB's have had a torrid season, they will have grown together and will be more solid for it. All in all we have done much better than last season, so we're moving in the right direction. Best of all though, I think is seeing Wilshere come of age. he is already an immense player and is going to be one of the best. Having said all of that, there are still one or two areas that need addressing, to take us to the next level and turn good performances into trophy winning ones.
