...to be an Everton supporter? The complete dismantling of your club. One of the best Managers you could ever hope for, hanging on by a thread. A skint owner beholden to the banks, who are now demanding the transfer money as payment on debt. Champions League aspirations last year, complete doom and gloom this year, worse next. Personally, I think the ADDITION of Bendtner is just fine. Moving along nicely.
The wierd thing is, they will probably still finish ahead of us in the 7-9th positions, they just keep doing it every bloody season. (but the bubble has to burst soon)
Amen fella! The Smb was in meltdown yesterday and I couldn't help but think we don't deserve our owners at times. I'm hoping that some of the posts come from multiple accounts and one poster (such was the moronic content). Sadly we are not man city or united... There are no bottomless pits of cash and we need to cut our cloth accordingly. All the talk of a lack of progress just makes me think back to our first season back under Keane..... Look at that squad and tell me it's not progress. Rome wasn't built in a day.
Ken, I'd be ****ing surprised if we hadn't progressed with all of the cash thats been invested, first by Keane then Bruce. If other clubs had invested the cash Sunderland had in their squad, I'd think they would be further ahead of us by now. Dunno why it just always seems that way to me. New team every year, crisis cos we didn't get the right players in and then having to reinvest heavily rather than surgical buys to quietly improve.
It just amazes me at times how short memories some of our fans have...We are currently in the most consistent period of top flight stability in the 40 years plus that I have been attending games, and yet you would think we have a worse side now than we had in the Wilkinson or Mackemenemy years the way some go on.
Thats the Moyes effect though Steve and further evidence of the importance of having a good manager. Everton have a pretty good squad which admittedly has been weakened year on year but the lad Drenthe was a very shrewd acquisition and I'd have liked us to go for him. Lots of skill and pace and plays left midfield too. I am absolutely staggered that non of the top 4 or 5 clubs have taken apunt on David Moyes and feel he would have been a fantastic Man City manager or Chelsea manager to see what he could do with a few bob to spend.
Theres absolute murder going on down here at the moment, the kopites have seen their arses over the Bellamy signing (certainly wasnt welcomed back) and there is strong speculation on Merseyside tonite that Moysie may be about to walk, all the local radio stations are covering the story. It would seem he wasnt happy with the clubs transfer dealing specifically the outgoing ones !! A suggestion has also been made that the Clubs bank forced through through the sale of Arteta or certainly put pressure on the club to carry out the transfer, shame really as Ive a real soft spot for the blues
Cest its long been mooted down here that Moyes would be Sir Alex Fergies ultimate successor. By all accounts the powers that be at United have been monitoring him since his Preston days
Is it Barkley the young Everton player? He looks an absolutely terrific talent. The new Rooney. Baines, Jagielka, Cahill, Fellaini, Rodwell...they still have some highly thought of players. Can't wait to see more of Barkley, like.
Mate, the side is one of the best I can remember (save for the reidy years, cracking tram back then) but we're not using the players effectively, but lets not go down that discussion path, for the sake of all our sanity.
The thing is RAW, I think almost every sensible SAFC fan would wholeheartedly agree that the squads and players we have today are far superior to the ones under Wilko and McMoneybags but thats why some of us are so disappointed. the squad we have at our disposal could and should be doing so much better than it has for the past 8 months. Its on a slippery slide not an upward climb. It isn't the players its the man picking the tactics and giving it direction thats the question mark. Given our squad, I bet SAF could get us top 6 at a canter. Bruce will struggle to keep us top 10 again. David Moyes would squeeze every inch of talent from our current players and thats what I want to see Bruce do. Look like he is in charge and actually directing the team, not putting odd formations out there and playing players in wrong positions every week. Thats the whole argument I am trying to make in a nutshell.
Biffa Moyes is a carbon copy of the steely eyed SAF and would be a great Man Utd manager IMO. Would be a magnificant Sunderland manager too btw Lol
I would agree with you on David Moyes: he is a manager who I hold in very high regard, and if, and it's a big if, he ever became Sunderland manager he would get by full support. However, in my humble opinion, he is one of only a handful of managers who I would rate higher than the one we have now, so unless we can get a better option then bruce will also get my full support..
Christ mate, your hands must be ****ing massive, to fit 5647 managers in them............. (sorry, I couldn't resist)
