Hi guys, First of all I have commented or done a post for ages....been travelling Australia & New Zealand. Finally settled somewhere so now I can read & post . Anyway I watched the match last night & watched the highlights of all the premiership games and I cannot believe how s**t we have been playing. I do not think its MON fault. I agree that his tactics are not pretty, but they are normally effective. The problem with us is our main players are not playing. Sess & McClean have been garbage, and IMO when players are playing s**t they need to be dropped. I know Sess hasn't had much of a pre-season, but we are 5 games in now (including the cup) so he should be fit, or about 90% fit. I know players go through bad spells, but in all honesty he needs to be dropped. Now on to McClean. I really like this guy, but he is a 1 trick pony at the moment. He needs to adapt & quick. He also needs to make better decisions. There was a point in the game when it was 3 vs 2, and he elected to shoot from about 20 yards. I would drop him also, these 2 need to know that if they don't perform, they won't play. With regards to possesion, & how to play better I have thought of a few ideas. My first idea is playing someone else at RB. Possibly an U21 player? The reason being is we need Gardner up top. I know he isn't the best at passing, but he gets forward. If we dropped Sess, he could play behind the striker. My other idea is play 4-4-2, with Saha up top with Fletcher. I would like to see how that would work out, again that would allow Sess to be dropped. I would also like to point out that we are undefeated, 3 away games & 1 home. I would ideally like to have won atleast 1, but that will come.
Certain players are not performing and a squad is all about giving chances to them if current first teamers are not doing it. I think the decision point is fast approaching for changes and 6 games would be my benchmark for telling players who are under-performing to get it right or ship them out to the bench. Vaughan and Gardener should be considered for the central midfield berths sooner rather than later and Saha or Wickham (back in form scoring for England and reserves) as partners to Fletcher instead of Sessegnon. Johnson will walk back into the team when he is fit. One things for certain, McClean and Sess have failed to impress in all 4 games so far and that has to change in the next game or two, or changes will HAVE to be made for the good of the team.
Always thought that MONs style would not suit us as we don't have and probably never will have the players to do it effectively, it was never pretty at Villa. With the players we have now I still think 4 4 2 is our best option. MON needs to drop players who are under performing now not in a couple of games time, when the first win comes in the league it'll be all happy days again and, he can work on the under performers and get them performing again. KTF lads.
I replied to concrete Tony's post on a similar issue yes they should be dropped if they are under performing but it is still early days lets see what happens after the next two games and hope no rash decisions are made I have faith in mon
