We love corners like Eau Rouge, Copse, Swimming Pool and Ascari but unfortunately there are some real shockers in F1, which are mostly Tilke's fault, but what is the worst corner of them all? Here's some suggestions: Bahrain - every corner (they're all terrible) Singapore - Singapore Sling (incredibly high-kerbed chicane) Valencia - Turn 25 (awkward final hairpin) China - Turn 11 (strange high-kerbed left hander) Barcelona - Turn 14/15 (pointless final chicane) Nurburgring - Turn 1 (awkward hairpin) Budapest - Turn 6/7 (another pointless chicane) Abu Dhabi - Turn 11/12/13 (another pointless chicane) If you can think of any others feel free to post some.
My vote goes to the Singapore Sling. Not only is it pointless and boring, it's also dangerous with it's stupidly high kerbing.
For me its the corner after the barcelona chicaine, it makes overtaking impossible because you cannot follow closely through that corner as we saw this year.
Its going to be between the singapore triple sling chicane and the barcalona chicane isn't it, and for me its the barcelona chicane, might be a half decent track without it.
Going only on F12010 there are a few corners I hate: the corner leading onto the back straight at Malayisa, final chicane at Barcelona, Rascasse at Monaco, turn 2 at Valencia, first chicane at Monza, both of the corners entering to two bridge things at Singapore (I quite like the chicane at Singapore on the game), turn 3 Korea. In real life I would say either the final chicane at Barcelona because it wrecks the entire flow of the track, or the Singapore chicane because it is stupidly high curbed and speads the field out too much.
I voted "other" before I realized it asked about current corners. Wanted to vote for Tamburello at Imola, San Marino. The corner that took the life of Ayrton Senna On a current track it would probably be the Barcelona final chicane so count another vote on that.
There is one that springs to mind more than any other: the cutting out of Cataluña's heart (otherwise known as Barcelona's bastardisation). This is one of the most heinous crimes against any circuit and has resulted in it being robbed it of its once crowning glory: a truly awesome corner totally murdered, stamped on and rubbed out as if it never happened. It's akin to smashing Eau Rouge flat and is probably Tilke's biggest single crime against humanity!
Is that the corner where Sutil had an incident last year? It's like trying to mount a wall on the game !
Wow, someone voted for the Abu Dhabi chicane. I'd have thought we'd all be too busy voting for Barca and Singa
My opinion from playing F1 2010 Bahrain (every corner) - nothing stands out for me here, all pretty boring and average. Singapore (Singapore Sling) - this is really awkward and annoying, you basically have to roll over them or they catapult you! China (Turn 11) - dont mind this corner at all Barcelona (Final chicane) - horrible idea to put this in, i liked the fast sweeping double apex last bit in previous games but this chicane has ruined it Valencia (Turn 25) - i actually really like this corner, you have two changes of direction very fast round a blind corner then straight into the braking zone! Budapest (Turns 6/7) - again i dont mind this corner, nothing awkward about it! Nurburgring (Turn 1) - i also like this corner, down hill braking from 180mph+ into a tight corner, i like it! Abu Dhabi (Turns 11/12/13) - these are OK, nothing too bad about them but nothing exciting either
I know this is about worst corners but I would just like to remind people of how bad they can be when the race directive **** about with the track and it is a nice bit of nostalgia.
Mephisto: whoever was responsible for that crazy idea should have been strung up. After the first hit, they get dislodged but a driver cannot know the different position of them from one lap to the next and they tend to be ever more likely to be rearranged, thus making the whole thing nothing but a lottery. Tyres in Monza's chicanes is one of the most dangerous things I can think of; and that it actually happened in the modern era is scarcely believable!
I don't like the singapore sling, but the chicane in Barcelona gets my vote. It completely ruins the circuit.
