I see that the mighty Motherwell have just been tonked 3-0 over two legs in the Europa Conference by Sligo Rovers, a League of Ireland side out in the wild west of that country. Other than the two we all know of, is the Scottish Premier a low skill league? Where would it compete in the English system?
I watched Sligo in their first round leg against Bala Town. Very tidy side and superb fans. All of whom sat down of course.
Somewhere between League 1 and 2. Aside from the Glasgow teams, it’s piss-poor tbh. Any talented player playing for a Scottish club other than Rangers and Celtic inevitably ****s off after a decent season, either to England or Rangers or Celtic.
It's too varied IMHO to make straight comparisons. The gulf top to bottom is massive. Much bigger than in any of the English divisions which makes accurate comparisons very difficult. Those at the bottom might struggle to compete in L1 while those at the top are bottom of PL or Champ level, If you watch some of the game on a Friday night in the Champ up there you'd fancy you could get a game yourself in many cases. Its the reason why their leagues are so poor. Small divisions but huge differences from top to bottom.
