Yes, we've had an excellent start, and I can see it actually going beyond the Spurs and Wigan games if I'm honest, that's how confident I've become!

However, inevitably we are going to drop away from the top four, and it's just a matter of hoping that when that first defeat comes, our balloon doesn't deflate and one defeat leads into another, then another, and then so on. I think the loss of Tiote and Ba in January could hamper us, as we don't seem to have a replacement for Ba and I have doubts about Guthrie and Gosling (unless Gosling gets regular first team football out on loan), so the question begs, where, after taking into account how good we CAN be this season, would you be happy to see us finish?

Surely bottom half has to be considered a slight disappointment, so for me I'm still going to be happy with a top ten finish, even though I genuinely believe we can finish higher if we keep our squad fit and together and get through the African Cup of Nations without a catastrophe on the pitch!

I'd accept a top 10 finish as an improvement, but I'd be ever so slightly disappointed if we finished anywhere other than the top 8, as I think it's where we can be if we push hard enough. Failing to push hard enough would just waste this great start and great momentum.

Rather vague poll options. I'd be ecstatic with top ten still. bottom half? 11th I'd still be happy with, probably down to 12th as the lowest (need to improve really) but lower than that and I'll be disappointed.

10th if im honest at the minimum. I believe with the squad we have, theres absolutely no reason why we cant finish 7th/8th.

7th place is up for grabs between us, Stoke, Fulham and Everton. The top 6 will be the top six, Arsenal will sort it out - maybe not a CL place but top 6 nonetheless.

Said 10th was the aim before a ball was kicked we've only had 7 games so need to change that yet. Still think the top 6 will be the same again and Villa, Fulham, Stoke, Everton and possibly even Sunderland could come good.

I think Villa's squad is far too small to sustain a push for 7th - 10th. Sunderland have too many mediocre players too and will finish near the top of the bottom half I think.

Bottom half, anyone saying top 10 is being too ambitious for my liking.

Got to say out of the 5 teams I named I'd be least concerned about those two, you could also argue who have Villa played because for me they've had the easiest start in the division (well apart from maybe Wigan).

Top ten for me also... we need to be lucky with keeping our strongest 11 fit and away from long-term injury.

If we manage that then I think we have an outside chance of the Europa League.

The reality is that we'll suffer injuries and suspensions and our lack of depth in terms of top-quality will be exposed - if we can improve on last years finish of 12th then we can't be too unhappy. <ok>

I'd be disappointed if we didnt finish top 10 after this start. Top 6 VERY ambitious but possible.

For me any improvement on last season is a bonus. We've had an amazing start but i'm not going to get too carried away. Bolton had a superb start last season if I remember correctly and they fell away. It happens. I just hope that if it does (and I pray is doesn't) that we don't get loads of idiots on here blaming MA, Pardew and our lesser players for sabotaging our season when we were destined for Champions League football after our amazing start. There are always a few.

Anything below 12th and I'd be disappointed.

I think we'll finish 6-12 (yes I think Arsenal could finish 7th but top 10 would see me very happy.

A decent cup run too would be nice.
