I think now Carroll is getting better he should start as CF, and we should give suarz a free role as he scores goals from all over the pitch.

he was isolated on saterday and he could of done with Carroll bullying there defence to provide him with the space to hurt them.. IMO

He can play as a left forward and I'm surprised we haven't given this a go yet as 4-4-2 with him Carroll isn't really effective.

He's not that effective when playing as the main striker. Often looks isolated which is probably more down to the midfield.

He looked more threatening when he isn't that high up the pitch. He needs a partner and hopefully he and Carroll can develop a partnership.

To be honest, Kenny has deserted the pass and move style which has been so successful at the end of the last season and the start of this one. Since Carroll has come in, we've been putting in so many useless crosses, often from deep positions as well which shows a lack of ambition and creativity.

We need pace, intelligence and movement and I would like to see a forward 3 of Bellamy, Suarez, Kuyt/Carroll/Maxi.

He's best playing behind the striker as Gerrard did for Torres. We really need a Hernandez-esque style poacher with Suarez tucked in behind doing the legwork and making the chances, then someone in the box with a clinical finish on him.

    This.

Although recently Carroll has been getting his head on the ball and knocking it down for the second striker or midfielders - unfortunately other than Kuyt's goal they seem to not be pushing up to get on the end of the knock downs.

I say play Suarez as a second striker, almost as a CAM. Like Red said in the old Gerrard role.

I would play him second striker. he can't lead a line.

honeslty i'd be looking at henderson and saying the boy needs a break. I'd be looking at gerrard and wondering if i should put a team around him seeing he can't/won't run.

I'd also be looking at donwing and wondering what the hell is he at.

All in all i'd go 442 for now and see what we can go do with that.

    reina
    johnson skertl agger enrique
    kuyt spearing adam/gerrard bellamy/downing
    suarez carroll

I'd sub on/ off gerrard and adam as they play similarly now. get 30mins out of gerrard type of thing. I'd start bellamy and sub on downing.... finally i'd take kuyt off for henderson or in deed gerrard as well.

finally Carroll needs games and thats just it. Suarez can be played through to do the creating, he can go hunt for ball and link up play.

So Carroll to be the sharp point to our spear as it were? Can't see that ever working - I don't think he's quick enough or got the ball control skill to be our out and out striker and TBH not sure that a partnership of him and Suarez could ever work. I would dearly love to be proved wrong though

if suarez gets around carroll and communicates it can. even if he gets on one or two knock downs a game it'd work.

    two issues:

suarez is selfish as hell so setting up carroll aint in him.

suarez wants to get a certain type of quick ball and carrol can't give it to him bar a flick on.

On a plane to Russia, hopefully sitting as uncomfortably as possible.

The stats suggest his best position is a right sided attacking role. That's where he played for Ajax when he got 49 goals in a season. I believe he's also slightly withdrawn when he plays for Uruguay, too.

    I am not Lettuce.
Also, **** off? Just because I don't like the way Suárez has disgraced us?

    So;

    Reina
    Johnson/skyrtl/Agger/Enrique
    Lucas
    Suarez/Hendo/Gerrard/Bellamy
    Carroll

If we go with this then obviously swap in spearing, kelly, adam & if he manages to find his form Downing. when needed

I hope I'm wrong but I think we need the leg saving replacement for Bellamy because Downing needs a break to go find himself or get laid whatever the hells the matter with his mojo. Pity Sterling is still a year away.

I actually like that first team. Think it would take the pressure off Carroll and if the four midfielders click they can shift & swap positions like City do.

Suarez has scored some great goals when coming in from wide positions. Some nice assists to.

    ---------------------Reina------------------------

    ----Johson ---- Sktrel ---- Agger ----- Enrique---

    ---------------Spearing --------Adam--------

    ---------------------Gerrard-----------------------

    ---Suarez --------------------------- Bellamy------

    ---------------------Carroll-------------------

That looks pretty good to me........... we could experiment with Suarez on the right against Brighton?

  20. I am assuming you are considering present injuries here? Otherwise, where is Lucas...? I'd play him instead of Adam and consider playing Henderson instead of Spearing. Lucas, Spearing and Henderson all give energy to the midfield, they can all run for the full ninety minutes. Adam seems to tire and I'd prefer to use him as back-up to Gerrard.

As far as this article is concerned, I'd agree with the front four here..
