Personally I have seen no quotes from the club at all about our summer spending but I'm interested as there must be a budget to be used this window.

I think it would have been between £14-£16 million before any comings and goings

    OUTS (so far)
    Smudger* - £0 (60k wages)
    Mclovin - £0 (20k)
    Guthrie** - £0 (20k)
    Forster - £2m (15k)
    Best - £3m (25k)
    Youth Players - £0 (5K)

    INS
    Gael Bigirimana* - £1m
    Romain Amalfitano** - £1m

(*= replacements, This also goes to show just how much of our wage budget has been cut, my estimate makes it around £125K p/w)

At a guess, I would say we still have around £16-18m of the transfer budget still to play with, but with Debuchy (8-10m) looking likely to come in, as well as Douglas (5-7m) we could spend close to that on just those 2 players. Obviously if Debuchy came in Simpson or Raylor would be moved on as we don't need 3 specialist RB's but neither of them would fetch much more than £5m and then we would be left with around about £6-7m.

IMO I think a striker is not high on the priority list for the club and will look at reinforcing the Defense, while looking forward to January for a striker if needs be...

But what do you think, how much do we have to spend? Where should the money be invested in the squad? Should we just go trade Shola in for Messi???

I think Mike Ashley would go over his planned budget if the player meets the criteria of our recent signings. E.g. Cheap, Young, High potential. For example if we spent our budget and then Sturridge who has been rumoured as a £5m target for Spurs, I think Ashley would be all over that with the view that he could probably sell for a large profit in 2-3 years time!

Without even reading the full article you've fell into the trap of thinking all premier league players are earning a fortune in football terms, when evidently they're not.

Read this article that clearly states Guthrie was on 4k per week after it was revealed in court after a driving offence.

    http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/ne...tar_Danny_Guthrie_escapes_second_driving_ban/

Forster is a youth player and has never played first team football he'll be lucky if he was on 1k per week
Loverkrands won't be on 20k more like 10k
I'd be suprised if Best was on 25k aswell probably around 12k-15k

Add up the realistic figures and you've barely got anything, in football terms. Only real significant thing we've done in this transfer window is release Smith's wages.

Amalfitano, 21 and Bigirimana, 18, both came from 2nd tier clubs in England and France respectively so they won;t be on much either probably 3k-6k

I think a striker has to be high on the list as we realistically have just the dembas and Shola.
We need a class de Jong type and someone to develop like Rhodes.
We also need to get rid of that helmet Ranger.

I dont know why but i think our budget is larger then people think and more then the club are letting on. Mike Ashley knows if hes going to cashin he needs to spend now while were in europe. it would make sense business wise. I think wel see 3 major signings and 2-3 youngsters. This would put us in contention to challenge to win the EUROPA and put us in a position to get in the champions league. I think Mike Ashley is about to pull a coup and spend within a descent budget. Il be surprised if we dont spend atleast 20 Million-30 Million. I dont know why, i dont know how....I just have that niggly feeling Mike Ashley is about to pull a shocker on us all??????

Doesn't seem that irrelevant, De Jong clearly favors a move to the more technical Bundesliga and I think we should turn to John guidetti to add to the forwards we have.
