I don't disagree with him on the notion that they're the best team in the Championship. Now, if the question was whether they're the best team in the Championship to watch (edit: as a fan, not as a neutral), there are a good three or four teams I'd place above the Hammers.

Allardyce said, on the style of WHU: we're one of the best, if not the best.

Totally accurate. They're not the best. :D

I am convinced that, even if I was not a Saints fan and had no bias towards them whatsoever, I would still consider Saints to be the best passing side in the league. West Ham would be nowhere near the top. Reading, Boro, Burnley, Crystal Palace and even Doncaster play more attractive football than West Ham.

If we finish above West Ham we will win the league. They have bags of quality, and we've done incredibly well to take 4 points from them, now we have to finish the job by getting maximum points from our remaining games.

I don't really understand the people who criticise West Ham's style of play, because it works and that's all that matters. Gold and Sullivan have gambled heavily on a quick return to the top flight, and I doubt they or the supporters care how they get there.

Must have taken lots of research to come up with all the details for that article, top class reporting once again from the sun.

In his Evening Standard article yesterday he claimed that the Blackpool result was the best of his career so far. Millwall coming a close second.

In fairness to Allardyce, compared to what he normally presides over West Ham are playing relatively attractive stuff. Definitely not on a par with the Southamptons and Blackpools in terms of watchability though.

before the sending off against saints last week i thought that west ham played some decent football.

after that, they did go a bit more direct though.

    Is he for real?! <laugh>

He is fast becoming my most disliked manager around. Hopefully Real Madrid will take him on next summer when Mourinho leaves. ;)

Also, it made me laugh that West Ham actually put a clause in his contract saying he could leave for England. As if the FA would want him!

This is starting to get embarrasing now. I could understand the hatred towards Poyet last season, but now to Big Sam this season? Just because one side in the division is better than us, we automatically have to hate them and have it in for their manager? No wonder that West Ham fan who's been coming on here recently finds it all quite amusing.

I've got nothing against West Ham or Big Sam. Yes I don't believe that the football he plays in attractive, but so what? I don't go to Upton Park every other week, so I don't give a monkies how they play - I only care about how my own team play, as they are the ones who I go and watch each week. And besides, attractive football isn't always the most succesful way - look at Arsenal in recent years.

Their method clearly works, because they're top of the league, have one foot back in the Premiership, and out-classed both ourselves and Blackpool (when they still had 11 men) in the past two weeks. All credit to them. However they play their football, they deserve to be top. They're the best team. But even if they aren't the best team - and by the sounds of it, most people don't agree with me - that still doesn't mean we should automatically have it in for him and them, just because we're going up against each other. Hope that they lose whenever the take they field, by all means, but that's as far as it should go imo.

I agree with every single thing said in this post. I've always liked West Ham as a club. They have a huge amount of history and tradition and are a massive football club despite what people say. Fair play to them for doing well this season <ok>

Palace have had 8 shots to West Ham's 1, although West Ham have 61% possession
