Just read a report that Mr. Ferguson thinks that Rooney is like and better the Pele!!! What is he on about, first of all Pele was a quit and well spoken gentleman. Rooney? he can not put two words together, and Pele did not go round night clubs hitting other people, Yes, Rooney thats right, he got away with that did he not? He should just stick to football and not make silly statements like! So there thats off my chest. Going now to have a large glass of water, still taking the tablets chaps!

Hes just praising a fantastic footballer. No matter what anyone says, Rooney is the 3rd best player on earth right now. The 2 ahead of him are arguably better than Pele* and Fergie is just offering an opinion.

    * Impossible to say for sure at the end of the day.

Not overly interested in this article but will comment nonetheless. (Sums up my day really)
Speaking purely on a footballing basis and not how well educated/mannered/tempered he is off of the pitch, I can see similarities. Rooney is gifted, possibly the most gifted English player at this moment in time. (Wilshere is the future.)

I am not a fan of Utd, but i'd love to see Ronney play with the freedom he does in a Utd shirt with the 3 lions bib on. If he bangs the goals in at the Euro's we'll all be calling him 'The White Pele' Or if he's really lucky, ill start calling him Stan. ;)

Maybe SAF was talking about football not some irrelevant off-pitch garbage. On what planet is Pele well-spoken anyway? He comes out with idiotic statements just about every week

its all about opinions and thats Fergies and seeing how he is the most successful manager we have seen his opinion must carry a lot of weight.

Pele was twice the player Rooney is and that was using a bit heavy pigs bladder as a football.

    Nah.

Also I think Rooney is one of the few footballers who would of made it back in the day kicking those pigs bladders about.

    <doh>

Really wish people would read what has actually been said instead of just blindly following the Daily Mail headlines! SAF said:

"If you look at Pele, for instance, he was a very aggressive attacker also who could look after himself - so can Rooney. They have similarities that way in terms of strength, speed, determination."

In what way is that saying Rooney is as good as Pele?!? It's effectively like people saying that Andy Carroll plays in a similar style to Shearer - similarities in playing style does not equal similarities in quality.

To be honest I didn't read the whole article and I won't be either. I was just commenting on what's been flying around the forum, obviously it has been fictionalised as that's what happens 95% of the time <ok>

So during his playing days he was? What exactly was it that turned him into the dimwit he is these days? What difference does it make anyway whether a footballer is well-spoken or not? They don't get paid for performing poetry

And yea I'm too young to have seen Pele play but then again your post wasn't about football was it?

How about people actually try reading what Sir Alex said rather than the Media's usual twist on things?

He didn't say Rooney is as good as or better than Pele. He said that Rooney has a similar style of play to Pele.

Another dumb Sun reader who doesn't bother to read beyond the headlines.
