As most of you know, the Malaysian owners of Cardiff City F.C are insisting that they change their kit to red (at least at home) and the badge goes too. The Bluebird will be shot and replaced by a Welsh (or Asian) dragon. They will no longer be the Bluebirds. There's some speculation that this was due to blue being unlucky, whilst red is considered lucky in Malaysia.

In return, a figure of £100M investment is being bandied around though I don't think this has come from the Club. This will sort out their debt and allow for a substantial investment. Let's assume it's true. Most on the Cardiff board are fine with this change, some more reluctantly than others, though imo the rank and file off the forums will be outraged.

As for the Financial Fair Play Rules there's been a suggestion that as the penalties for that don't come in until another year later, the club will take its punishment in the Premiership (if achieved). That doesn't seem right to me. What if it's a 10 point deduction?

Why can't the owners invest without changes that are so controversial? The answer apparently is taken from their board:

"the scenario seems to be that we must accept these terms or they pull the plug"

If this is right it's unbelievable. Who are these people?

So Jacks and Jackettes: Thoughts on what's happening. If you don't care that's fine. More importantly, are those fans who are accepting this change right? Their long-standing financial troubles will be over, after all.

Crucially, what if it was us? More than one Jack has said we'd do the same.

[EDIT: What about all those Bluebird tattoos out there?]

We would definitely not do the same, we have had fights with dodgy owners in the past, but never would we throw away our identity for some foreign custom, to me this is a tragedy, and I would be behind any movement to put the club into admin, so that the supporters can gain control of the club, Isn't there anyone up there with some soul left for Cardiff, I am surprised at Steve Borley, who is someone I know and have spent evenings with over a pint down my local, and his brother Peter, who seem to me to be passionate Bluebirds. Sorry but there are too many Foreign owners who don't have a clue, and are ruining the clubs and game!.................... <ok>

I would hope we wouldn't do the same. Okay, £100 million is a lot of money, but is it worth ruining a part if your history for.

Personally, if it were my club, I'd be boycotting the whole idea.

The whole team will wear number '8' is what I've heard because it's a lucky number in those parts.

We (with obviously most of the credit going to the central figures behind the acquisition) managed to oust Tony Petty - if they want them out bad enough they'll get them out.

Kj - I honestly beleive if it was us we would be taking to the streets to protest in massive numbers, cardiff are so jealous of our success that they are willing to sell their soul to the devil to try to equal what we have done, none of theit arguments stand up RE this rebranding the fans will go along with it because they are so desperate to be us... its just unbeleivable, it really is.

2012 The best year ever to be a Jack <ok>

imagine being told we cant play in black and white or that we are no longer ´the swans´- id be absolutely fuming. i dont care what amount of money is involved theres no way id go for that. the key to this is not to put yourself at the mercy of people who are not connected to the club, we have in the past and weve suffered for it. fortunately now were on the right track but let this be a warning to people who think we should go out and spend big looking for success .- cardiff have been doing that for awhile now and these are the consequences

No for me.i'd rather the supporters buy it or anyone for a fraction of the money offered rather than lose our identity..but for a 100 mil i might be temped to reach a compromise and have it as an away kit or have it as a new kit for a season just to appease the backers then prove to them how unpopular the move is and revert back to normal

No amount of money would make me want to change our clubs History and Identity , i couldn't care less if it was £500m on offer, many that went to watch the Swans when we didnt have a pot to piss in will probably say the same .

Give me crowds of 2-3000 people watching crap football but playing in White with a swan for a badge any time over having to suck up to overseas money who couldnt care less about the local community or surronding area.

Cardiff fans should be ashamed of themselves IMO, they are going to set a precident if this happens ,every foreign owned club may want to change club badges and team colours to represent their own ethnic colours, flags and traditions, the very fabric of what makes the game in the UK so special is now at risk, club colours and badges can very often represent local history, local industry and working class roots in general , what happens when all this gets eroded away ?? when you start ****ing with the emotional fabric of your club you can disenfranchise the very people that are the life blood of your club, the fans!

Without fans the club is not worth a penny, this is such a stupid thing on so many levels and the thick cardiff fans are actually letting this happen!! what little respect i had for them has dissapeared now .

What a bunch of bending over taking it in the ass money grabing whores cardiff fans are...they really should wake up and deal in reality <ok>

This statement is on the money, and sums up how desperate the bluetits have become since our promotion to the Premiership. They are a laughing stock, and I'm sure there will be more surprises on the way for the sad Muppets!.......... <cheers>

Dragon- The scary thing is that most of the fans seem to be letting them do it without so much as a whimper!! they are so desperate to catch us and rub our faces in it that they will sell the club colours and badge/crest to do it>..<laugh>

Have you ever ..ever ever ever heard of something as desperate as this ? maybe a crack whore in East L.A at Midnight looking for a fix comes close but still nowhere near the desperation of former bluebirds..<laugh>

    Yes Norway!!

The 'owners' have apparently told them to either take the offer or go bust! Some backers they are ey! I have nothing but genuine disbelief that the fans are taking this laying down, we all knew they were a bunch of bottle-jobs but this really is amazing to see. Some of them are even defending the Asians <laugh>

For 100,000,000 I'd go out in my birthday suit ... they'd probably give me that much not to though . If the club was heavily , heavily in debt , maybe . It not the fact that it's happening to a team ( regardless if it's Cardiff ) , it's the way it's being forced down there throat !!

Don't care , they call MK Dons a franchise club, but the true franchise is Cardiff and they selling their souls to the suits in Malaysia, gone is their identity. Will have to start calling them redshits from now on <laugh>
