Apart from Rob Green making great saves in our opening ten games, I was wondering with all of the players sold and loaned out, does anyone have an idea how much we have actually saved in wages since the close of last season? £1m, 2, 3, 4 or 5 a week?

As I understand it, when on loan the parent club still pays part of the wages, don't know how much and what happens if the player gets injured (e.g. Granero). Then we have players like Bloody Luke Young who the club still have to "maintain" on their books also adding to the wage bill - do these get put on SSP?

According to the League rules there is a loan fee that is also payable which I presume is set off against the wages.

Lots of questions, but the whole wages thing is a grey area to the ordinary supporter.

    OK, as I understand it....

Wages: It's usual for the parent club to pay something towards wages due to standard employment law, but exactly what we pay is down to the loan agreement / contract. It'll vary by player, and is probably driven by just how desperate the club are to send the player out.

As for injuries, these will be covered by insurance, which we will have on all players. So Granero's injury payouts should go a long way towards wages and treatment costs whilst he's unable to play. Same with Luke Young.

Not sure what happens when a loan fee is paid, and thereafter the player is injured and can't play. I guess this will be a contractual agreement alongside the wage contributions.

The ins and outs have probably left us in an improved financial position of approx 130 Grand a week. This is taking into account getting the Clueless One off the books. Still a really high wage bill when you think of who's left.

Out - Weekly approx wage based on pure guess with no fact checking or clue whatsoever
    Bosingwa - 65,000
    Samba - 80,000
    Mbia - 50,000 - Probably still paying around 20
    Park - 55,000 - Probably still paying around 20
    Fabio - Probably around 20
    Derry - 25,000
    Townsend - 10,000
    Granero - 60,000 - Probably still paying around 20
    Mackie - 20,000
    Remy - 70,000
    Bothroyd - 30,000
    Hughes - 50,000
    Hughes entourrage - 80,000

    Total - Weekly Out - 375,000

    In

    Simpson - 25,000
    Phillips - 25,000
    Austin - 35,000
    Carroll - 10,000
    Barton - 35,000
    Chevanton - 10,000
    Kranjcar - 35,000
    Henry - 20,000
    O'Neil - 20,000
    BAE - 30,000

    Total - Weekly In - 245,000

    Ahead by 130,000 a week

danishqp, you've not added Harry's wages or that of his staff on the 'In' side. probably tips it the other way. However, as I mentioned above I don't think that the numbers are that simple.

We may or may not be paying wages for loan players, there's no way wed pay Remy money, nor taarabt but I'm sure we are paying something for mbia.

Park is a strange one, we are technically paying some wages but that's offset with a loan fee that covers it. This was done so PSV didn't have to break their wages structure.

Townsend was on just 3k, which is yet another reason why I wanted younger players, Townsend for 3k or Zamora for 50k, I wonder whos better value.

Also, dare I mention it, Taarabt? Is Fulham fully covering his wages for the season loan?
