Well, for the past 4 or so days I've been furiously battling the dreaded BSOD on my laptop, so haven't had access to any Newcastle related news for some time, though I doubt my absence has been noticed on here, due to not really being a regular poster and such... But still, I'm back, and I would be eternally grateful if anyone could fill me in on important things regarding NUFC in the past few days, ya know, like contract related things, or any more crazy transfer rumours, and the such. And, of course, the match. Followed in on Soccer Saturday, gutted by the result like, especially since we were in front. What was in like though, for those of you who went/saw it via online stream? Were we just bad? Were Everton too good? Or was it the usual case of missed chances at the front and sloppy passing at the back? Much appreciated, rep (possibly..if it lets me) up for grabs! Ta!
Feeling absolutely frustrated and gutted after that result. The performance was respectable and you couldn't fault the commitment and effort displayed in the second half, although we really lacked a cutting edge and Barton's creativity and technique were missing. Simpson didn't look comfortable and seemed to be ineffective on the wing through the whole first half. the back four looked shaky and the two goals we conceded could've been avoided, Pardew must be very disappointed in the manner of how a basic counter attack led to a goal, the set-piece by Arteta was brilliant though so you couldn't really do much about that. Hopefully plenty of rest for the lads will do them some good and hopefully Ireland and Barton will be back for the Stoke game. Them two players have very good creativity and will give us that technical ability to unlock defenses by making a killer pass, cross or even scoring, Barton's delivery's were sorely missed today and Ireland's creativity, technique and flair could've helped us unlock a stubborn Everton side. Special mention to Guti.. he was immense today! Put in good crosses, ran like a wild beast(even when injured), excellent work-rate, showed skill and good trickery, definitely our MOTM. Ferguson also looks very promising, offered good width and energy although he does look lightweight but we have a potentially good wing-back on our hands and hopefully he can feature more towards the end of the season when we are safe. Nolan and Tiote worked there socks off but it just wasn't there day, although decent performances by both men. Best is improving quickly and is slowly but surely starting to look like a decent PL striker. Lover was very ineffective today(especially out wide) but showed good pace and movement at times although it wasn't a game to remember for him, he simply looked lost out wide and didn't trouble Everton's defense much. There are positives to take from this match(Guti's performance, Ferguson's promise and Best's threat), but there are more negatives that outshine them such as lack of cutting edge, creativity, squad depth and the need for QUALITY players in the summer. A striker or two is A MUST, a versatile midfielder/winger wouldn't go a miss, defensive cover and maybe 1 or 2 potential up and coming youngsters from aboard. Hopefully we'll put in a strong performance against Stoke and get the vital three points we need to ease the gap between the bottom three and us!
Nice one man...hope everything's good with Jonas, we heard anything about the injury? (Would search for myself, but still in the middle of setting up the laptop and restoring all my stuff...bastard thing) Hopefully everyone can recover for Stoke, should be going for the 3 points there I hope to make up for recent results. Knowing us though, after picking up only 1 point in the last 2 home games, we'll go and beat Manc and Chelsea, judging by our season so far...
Terrible game, terrible ref, Everton got away with murder. Just about sums it up I'm afraid. One bright spot, young Ferguson got a bit of an outing and looked good. Won't be too long before we see more of him. PS. Welcome back.
Haha, well I was getting withdrawal symptoms it's been a fair few days since I last checked everything out here, it's just a quick little peak, but all the articles were too much for me to read all at once so I thought I'd get the edited version from you guys haha
Was the disallowed goal definitely disallowed? I only just caught MOTD, so couldn't make it out for myself. Shame, by all accounts though Besty had a good game? Glad he grabbed another goal. Here's hoping he can grab goals in every single one of the last games and catch up with Carroll! Ha, would be ace. Am looking forward to seeing Ferguson play! Kinda gutted I missed him yesterday but by what I hear then we shall be seeing more! Ta! PS...wont let me rep you up. sorry!
I'm behind the goal in the GG end so not the best place to see offsides. It looked like a good goal to me but others in better positions to judge said it was offside. Great pity but that's our luck. Don't worry about rep, no need to apologise. PS. CH is on the radio now talking about Nani.
At the same end as Agent Bruce and got to say thought I saw a push from a Newcastle player on Everton player (think it was Coloccini), but thought Arteta took a dive for the free kick that led to Jagielka's game. Thought Everton were the better team and was possibly our worst home performance this season. Oh and forgot to say welcome back Acid.
