Only indirectly about Taider. If a player doesn't settle after a loan, which team has to deal with it. In Taider's case, he has moved to a third club, but who had to arrange it....the parent club or us as he was on a 1 season contract here. Do we get our fee back in full or get whatever we can from his next move?

Given these circumstances, I imagine everything is null & void and Saints' probably never paid anything to Inter up front anyway.

The rules between Premier League & Football League clubs are tighter than between clubs across Europe. I think if we had loaned him from say, Man City, we would have been stuck with him until at least December.

Although I suspect there are break-clauses in loan agreements for "unexpected personal circumstances" as a last resort get-out

We may as well cut our losses asap with Taider if he's not up to the job, so credit to the club for being strong enough to do that.

Although it is a bit embarrassing for our much heralded "scouting department" that they got his physical & mental side wrong. Something that Les Reed said in one of his interviews they focus heavily on.

Although the clubs are quick to point out that the Osvaldo deal is not linked and their two separate agreements. It's a heavy coincidence that we were linked with loan moves for two Inter players. It's as if they said to us. We don't want any of these guys, who do you fancy?

Yeah, I full expect Les Reed had to turn a few pages over on his list of possible transfer targets before Taider's name appeared.

I agree...he was more of a make weight to a deal. We obviously thought he might turn out to be a decent player or we wouldn't have considered it, but he probably wasn't a real target. I was wondering what was going on when we didn't see much of him...though he scored for the u21s. As he isn't essential, I suppose we've come out of it okay...we wanted to get rid of Osvaldo and now we've got rid of the player who wasn't a first choice anyway. As said, we probably hadn't paid up front anyway.

In answer to the OP, we all breathe a sigh of relieve and be grateful we didn't purchase the player outright.

Presumably when a loan fails someone ends up out of pocket. But I'm going out on a limb here and guessing it's neither a) an agent, nor b) a player.

We paid nothing for him apart from his wages and we got Osvaldo's wages off our books.

So we payed his wages for what, a month? I'd be looking to get that back, depending on the circumstances. If he just wasn't up to it, fair enough, but if he never applied himself or made any effort to fit in, then he's had a month's salary for sod all.

Anyway, on another note let's just hope Liverpool have as much joy with their signings from Seria A as we seem to have had with ours.

I was going to change my user name but decided to keep it as I shall probably only be around for a short while.

What happens when a loan fails?

Does it does it dry up, like a raisin in the sun?
Or does it fester like a sore-- and then run?
