So after the long awaited return ended in bitter disappointed, perhaps it is time to look at the reality of things in a positive way. As soon as I saw the team line up, in all honesty with the back 4 we had I knew we'd never be able to cope with any half decent centre forward. Not 1 single player in our defensive line is good enough to play in the premier division. And I'm not being harsh here as I was all for the back 4 we had in the championship, but lets be serious, Clint Hill and Bradley Orr are never quick enough or technically good enough to play in the top flight. Fitz Hall didn't even make it into the Championship backline, why is he starting?! Danny Gabbidon, well it's not even worth commenting. In my opinion, we need a whole new backline. What I am optimistic about is this defeat could be a blessing in disguise. This may make our hero from last year, Adel, buck his idea's up and realise if he wants a 'big' move he is gonna have to sort himself out and start making things happen. I thought Bothroyd looked sharp up front and we should be expecting things from him this season. Now before you all slaughter me for this, obviously I am very aware that we do not have the money to supposedly get all this players to sort out our backline, but maybe, just maybe the goons will realise the stay in the prem will be very shortlived if they stop being cingy stunts and pump money into the club. The next week will be very interesting I think, and if nothing happens then I'm sure we'll all be discussing how good Jermaine Beckford's hat-trick was against us.
Why didn't you say all this before the season started elnino. Hindsight is great. The only defender of Prem quality we said all along is gorkks. And he ain't even in the squad!
I know, if only my optimism didn't take over. As I said, hopefully this will be a good thing in disguise in the hope they will react positively. Take the positives, and we'll move on I'm sure. If anyone can get them work it's NW
