did not see the game. I did follow the last of it on the bbc. We seemed to have a greater contral of the game and more shots so what went wrong?
We didn't defend set pieces well, and their 2nd goal came from a free kick that shouldn't have been. We simply switched off defensively for their 3rd goal.. It definitely looked like all the changes at the back are having an effect. We badly missed Zamora in the final 3rd, it was a bit too late by the time he came on. Cisse is incredibly selfish, and stubbornly places himself between their two central defenders- refusing to drop back to ever collect the ball from our midfielders. I strongly believe that's part of the reason park had a poor game- often he found himself isolated running into their half alone, because cisse just refused to give him an easy pass. It was like playing with 10 men at times.
Also, they pressed us high, and hustled Cesar. He likes rolling the ball out from the back, and our team is suited to that approach. We ended up going long to too frequently as a result of their pressure.. Being without 2 skillful fullbacks in bosingwa/fabio removed left Cesar without an outlet
