Unfortunately the calculated appointment of DH is now showing-How sacking a manager who was failing and appointing his assistant who was part of the original problem was never going to take this club forward.

    And the saying goes-

Never solve a problem with the thinking that created it

It was the cheap option RR, and that's the cover that was used for the senior management wanting 'continuity' by appointing DH.
I really can't blame Holden for throwing his hat into the ring, and he seems a genuinely nice guy, but as we initially feared, it may have been a mistake to appoint him. Whether we can buy some squad bolsters in January has now become very important as we start to fall away down the table.
The hierarchy at the club say they have dreams of promotion and pushing for the Premiership, but those of us who've been around long enough can tell its all BS and just repeated rhetoric with no substance to back it up, revamped stadium and training facilities aside.

Spot on-JL did not want DH it was MA pushing with SL.

I'm going to say it and it might bite me on the ass but this is something I heard on the grapevine- but the reason DH was only given the year was to see out a period whilst Eddie Howe takes a year out and then becomes the next Bristol City manager.

Pretty please-the only thing i would say is can we entice him now, not at the seasons end.

Good to see we have such united leadership then !
Can but hope about someone like EH coming in, but I've heard that the Cleaning Lady has impressed Mark Ashton with her vision for the future, and it would follow our 'recruit from within policy'

Here's what I think has happened.

In isolation the appointment of Holden was and is the cheap option, I suspect that he made a case for better coaching/coaches and employing the 2 new coaches that Holden brought in has probably nullified the 'cheap' tag, because they obviously didn't come cheap, I suspect any new manager would want their own men in place, so perhaps the cheap option has actually given himself a nice insurance policy.

For many years I have the questioned some of the supposed thought processes that have happened at City and I still believe we have created this mysterious culture that at times absolutely beggars belief. There is huge cesspit deep within the organization that swallows up anyone with logic and forethought and leads to dire decisions and fallout and I am starting to despair that those concerned in this negativity don't have the brains to wake up to their own self inflicted misery. If any of us found rats in our larder we would call in the exterminators without hesitation but for some inexplicable reason these rodents are welcomed in to the fold and allowed to proliferate at will and throw money at anything capable of kicking a ball.

After all my years of support I have finally come to the conclusion that corporate statements and policies are more important to Lansdown and Ashton than getting the running of the club in the hands of a decent manager, because heaven forbid they should hear the real truth from someone who actually knows how to get the real job done without fuss. The leopards who will not lose their spots will bypass any thought of hiring Eddie Howe and will continue down the same path indefinitely. I know the Steve Coppell affair is long gone but it still indicates to me that any decent manager would avoid Bristol City FC like the plague, which brings me back to those darned rats.
