Came across this article on a website that I visit regularly - quite thought provoking. Personally I rate Anderson but agree that he needs to firmly establish his best position if he is to excel with the club. What do you all think? Is he United material? And do you think he'll benefit now that Scholes has retired, as I'm sure he was signed as a long term replacement to him...

anderson just needs to stay free from injurys, because long term injurys have really held him back.
also i think saf needs to stop changing ando's role in the team.
imo anderson has improved this season, mainly because i think he was out injured for only 6 weeks alltogether.
he didnt have a preseason, plus he wasnt fit to play at the start of the season,so it was a slow start for him, because he needed to get match fit, plus lose alot of weight.he was poor in some games, but i think he plyed well in most games, putting in some motm performances along the way.

anyway i think he has many good qualities,he does need to improve, and saf needs to be more strict with ando when it comes to his weight(he still needs to lose some).
he needs to get into the box more often next season,he needs to shoot more next season,he needs to improve his long range shooting, and he needs to improve his long range passing consistency.because sometimes its scholesque, and othertimes its like stevie wonder attempted the pass.the rest of his passing is fine tho.

but yeh,the main thing he needs to do is stay injury free, then he'll play more, that'll raise his confidence, keep him in shape, and sharp which means he'll improve.it'll make his allround game tidier and consistent.

If he can stay injury free and have a good pre season I believe he will play most games next season. He is a good player who is still young and can get better.

Anderson will get more playing time next season with scholes retiring he will be our main offensive midfielder and recently he's been scoring

He's still only 23 so plenty of time to peak. He was top notch in 07/08, but seems to have struggled with injuries and form since then. Every time he gets back to full fitness he plays really well, but soon after he seems to end up injured. Like was said above, if he can keep injury free next season he could be immense.

As for his future, I can't see us selling him whilst he's so young and shown he can make the grade. If he can step up his consistency levels next season, he may establish himself alongside Fletcher as our first choice central midfield pairing, effectively a better version of Carrick and Giggs this year. Alternatively if an established new CM arrives it could be a case of which out of Ando and Fletcher works better with the new guy.

I think it's make or break for Ando next season, he has the talent and is always a breath of fresh air when he plays ahead of cazza so looking foward to a decisive season for anderson.

I dunno about make or break - Ando's only just turned 23. Fletcher didn't break until he was almost 25, so Ando still has time. But I would like Ando to break through, either alongside Fletcher or a new signing. De Rossi might be just the player to bring Ando out of his shell.

Do not rate Anderson but would love to be proven wrong. I cringe every time he attempts to control the ball or run with it. Usually in my opinion ends up with the opposition. Often injured and I question his value for money. This season will be make or break for him though his playing appearances could be limited by new signings.

Anderson is going to be our main midfielder next season as he is better than Fletcher and Carrick, and the only forward thinker in that midfield.

But he needs to play along side a Fletcher or Carrick to be able to play his natural game. You can't replce Carrick or Fletcher for Anderson in the first team becaue they don't fill the same role, or at least Anderson doesn't cover Carricks very well. Anderson, should he show good form with a run of games, would be more like Giggs' recent role playing infront of Carrick in the midfield.
