Chelsea will return to Tottenham this weekend with an increased bid of £28m for midfielder Luka Modric. Spurs rejected their London rivals' initial bid of £22m on Wednesday. Full story: Footy Bunker
i hope he still says not for sale. Why would Luka want to go to an ageing team probaby past thier best, when we are still up and coming espically if we get the players Harry wants
1) money 2) champions league footy 3) raise his profile for his next transfer to real madrid 4) holidays with lamps on russian yachts 5) a house on the river rather than his flat above the chippy on the high road or... that is just the way of things these days.
The ball is in Modric's court, he will soon ask to leave in my opinion and hide behind the fact the club will make a huge profit on him. Just my thoughts.
Would love to think he was but we've been down this road before and everytime with the same outcome... Every player has their price.
If he has to go ( I certainly hope not), then we should ask for nothing less than 40m plus Drogba or 48m cash. We'll see then how much they want him.
It's lazy journalism in my view. Apparently his 'agent' has come out and said the minimum offer would be £22m - based on the 6 years on his contract at £70k/wk This figure fails to take into consideration market value/supply & demand. Neither parties have confirmed the offer was ever made. The journo has just taken a figure that was mentioned in passing and tried to create a 'story' out of it. Poor effort trying to get column inches when there's nothing to report.
Chelsea probably won't last too long in the CL next season and they've had too many coaches now. I think he should stay with us. Yes he can get better personal terms but not better team prospects I think. Chelsea went off like a rocket last season which gave them a good start but they faded badly. I don't think they will be as strong next season even with Modric if he goes.
That is exactly the question. Where does Levy say Yes instead of No. Those people who jabber on about his "market value", comparing him to what other similar players are supposedly worth, completely miss the point. Spurs are determined to keep Modric. However, there is always going to be a price - a price so ridiculous - that you just can't say No. Where that is, Levy alone knows. £40mm+???
Modric must stay if we wish to push for a top 4 place again BUT if he does leave for the chavs then we should take money plus Essian and no less .
Is ebar the poster formally know as Greaves357 reborn with a new toy - this time Modric rather than Jenas?
judging by the general interest and high volume of responses, it seems others are interested too. So if you are bored with it, a) don't read them, b) desist from pointless comments on them c) start your own, more interesting and varied threads and d) jog on btw, thanks for the grammar lesson. have you finnished now?
And an anagram of your's is Bera, who in the Bible was the King of Sodom. That makes you the King of sodomy.
