So far since John Henry took over last October we've spent over £100m (which the media won't stop mentioning). What many of them fail to take into account is the £50m sale of Torres. Which made me think... how much money do you think we will have actually spent by the end of the summer? With Konchesky leaving for £1.5m already, Torres gone for £50m and Babel for £6m we've made a large dent in our spending spree. Out - £57.5m Konchesky - £1.5m Torres - £50m Babel - £6m In - £101m Suarez - £22.8m Carroll - £35m Henderson - £16m Adam - £7m Downing - £20m Doni - Free? With a LB still supposedly to come in, and plenty more to go out - what do you think the difference will be?
Our net spend since January 2009 is...wait for it....£1.5 million. Spent £161 million...recouped £159.5 million.
In - £110.8m Suarez - £22.8m Carroll - £35m Henderson - £16m Adam - £7m Downing - £20m Doni - Free Cissokho- £10M Out - £62.7m Konchesky - £1.5m Torres - £50m Babel - £6m Mavinga- £1M Jones- £1.2M Aurelio- Free. Poulsen- £2.5M Degen- Free. El Zhar- £0.5M Jovanovic- Free. So, I believe our net spend will be £48.1M. NOTE: I can't think of anybody else coming in or going out. Please correct me if you think i've missed any obvious incomings or outgoings.
From January just gone until the end of this transfer window, including those who have left and are likely to leave i see our net spend being approx 80 mil. I'm sure this figure was being suggested a while back, and seems to be accurate enough taking into account we are likely to buy a LB and even maybe a CB. You never know we may even get a decent back up striker (although this is just me speculating!). It's a guessing game at present but i personally think 80mil looks reasonably realistic. I know i'm being a bit optimistic but one can only hope!
