With the obvious frustration at a disappointing domestic season coming to a head following the abysmal performance against Sunderland on Sunday, there has been lots of discussion about our manager and what we expect from managers of Newcastle United.

Without getting into the rights and wrongs of any individual, I wondered if there was a consensus on what we expect and want from a manager of our club. Are there qualities that we always want him to have? There are lots of skills involved in being a manager, but is there a specific trait you want to see shine through?

This is my first poll, so apologies if I make mistakes setting it up, but I wanted to do something different for my 1000th post. Multiple answers are allowed, so what are the most important qualities in your opinion. We would probably all love a manger with all of these qualities, but what are the most important to you?

Your vote will be public to show up any wum attempts.

    Transfer market all day long.
We've had coaches with lots of the other attributes before (Gullit, Souness, Sham) and they were dire.
It's the firs time I can remember since Keegan where, out of every 5 players we sign, 3-4 are gems.

I've gone for tactical understanding, the ability to attract top players and manage the coaches and scouts. I'm not too worried about whether or not the manager is a good coach provided he knows how to build a good coaching team. I think they're all important, but for me these are the key ones. After creating the bloody question, I found it harder to answer than I had thought,

You don't mean Fat Sham was your fav. manager?

My view: All of the above. minus managing the chairman n MD, rapport with fans and experience.

Take pardew for example and then do the opposite and that should give you a good idea of the right man to take us forward

My ideal manager would have silver hair, a cockney accent, the skin of a rhino and be called Alan.

I'm sure if we were patient after this poor, unlucky, injury plagued league campaign where the the current manager luckily outwitted most of his European counterparts in our other little campaign despite being clueless, I think we may get our man. The problem is that with Benitez, Mourinho etc waiting in the wings to jump at the chance to come to a club that has gone from a joke club and a laughing stock to a financially stable club with good foundations for the future, we may not get our man.

The problem is, while most people agree they don't want Pardew (I'm one of the very few who doesn't on here) they don't all agree what Pardew is, never mind what the opposite of him would be. Its one thing wanting a change of direction, but totally different working out what your new direction will be.

Good tactical understanding. Good in the transfer market (financial). General coaching to improve players.
