Villas-Boas has already chopped the likes of William Gallas, David Bentley and John Bostock after their contracts expired, but ten others have now been told they can depart. They include strikers Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor, along with the likes of Scott Parker, Tom Huddlestone, Iago Falque, Andros Townsend, Beniot Assou-Ekotto, Bongani Khumalo and goalkeepers Heurelho Gomes and Brad Friedel. http://metro.co.uk/2013/06/13/scott...ng-ten-spurs-players-put-up-for-sale-3839607/
I would query Townsend and Defoe from that list. I personally would like to keep THudd and Falque too. I think they are extrapolating a bit from some on the list. I think Friedel has only just signed a new contract.
Sounds like a bit of journalistic join the dots, to me. Some of them are basically public knowledge but others don't make much sense. Townsend and Friedel, specifically. I can see the rest leaving but we'd need to sign at least three strikers if both Defoe and Adebayor were let go.
What do we make of this, first whisper I've seen about avb...I do like Spurs giving a good snub! http://www.fanatix.com/news/psg-lin...-boss-after-tottenhams-avb-snubs-move/123081/
Who is gonna play up front if we let Defoe and Ade leave? We'll do well do sign 1 striker let alone 3
thats good news for you lot, reckon AVB is only a couple of players off the champions league, maybe better
Knowing Levy,I think what it should say is that any of them COULD be for sale, if the price is right. I agree that letting both Ade & Defoe go would not be very wise, however.
Based on last seasons answer to that question in my best deepest avb voice, "we have good options with Dempsey".....
Thought the merry-go-round latest was Hiddink to PSG? And I don't think that that many are on their way, out of the 10 listed I'd say 5 or 6 at the most. Townsend and Falque will either be part of squad or out on loan again, 1 of Ade/Defoe will still be with us, as will Friedel (whoop-de-doo!) Khumalo and Gomes are good as gone. Benny from the word doing the rounds will go, if the right price is offered and a suitable replacement is nailed on. That leaves one of Parker and Hudd, and either or both could go depending on who comes in and at what price, I would say.
Probable Gomes Khumalo Assou-Ekotto Likely Falque Adebayor Huddlestone Unlikely Friedel Parker Townsend Improbable Defoe
To paraphrase one of my much-loved sayings (regarding a certain Welsh wizard) - AVB is going nowhere. Remember, you read it here, first.* *...and when I say "first" I am using the term very loosely to mean "not first, at all." Thank you.
I can't see us being able to sell so many players. It took us ages to get rid of the likes of Bassong, Kranjcar and others because it's not easy sell unwanted players(even if they're good) without letting them go for much less than they're valued. Besides I'd quite like a few of those to stay.
I'd actually like us to keep Livermore. He seems reasonably adept in a few positions and clearly loves the club, though he could do with more game time.
