Off Topic What do you find cringeworthy?

More things annoying
Drivers in front of you who signal to turn left, then slow down, move to the right then turn left despite there being swags of room to make the turn.
People in gyms who spend half their time looking at their phone ( fb etc )
People who eat while in meetings, eg I work in a large public hospital and the amount of people who believe it acceptable to continue eating while conversing with a nurse etc beggars belief.

Depends where the shopping trolley is.

In a supermarket, what's the problem - seats have been designed in so kids take up less space in the aisles. That's considerate.

Racing down the high street, pissed up, in a trolley at midnight is a different matter

If the kid is sitting in the proper seat bit that’s fine , it’s being in the main part of the trolley—. see my reply to. Clockstander .

While there are lots of things that irritate me, I've had to think about what is, to me, truly cringeworthy.
I think that the worst is, -------

The words to The National Anthem.

I like (most members) the Royal Family.
I love the tune.
By reflex action I tend to go into, 'Stand to attention that man', mode whenever I hear the first beats.

But the words are just plain silly.
If you doubt this, look them up.
It's like a rhyme written by a six year old.

Of course we only use the first verse because the others, apart from verse five, which gets an occasional outing, are even more embarrassing.
Verse Six though has it's humours interpretations though, but you have to know who Marshal Wade was to appreciate it. however the 'Rebellious Scots to crush.' bit gets the message across.

And now that we have followed the USofA in having The Anthem sung at us at public occasions, often badly by some pop singer who feels the need to 'go operatic for the occasion' my cup of woe in overfilled.

I'm soon going to need help from The NHS as my toes are getting permanently curdled and need uncurdling.
My remedy, at home at least is to stand, respectfully, while turning the sound off before to vocalist opens his/her mouth.
