Obviously, the majority of posters on here came from 606, which had a strict policy of not allowing any non football articles to be posted. Some posters have requested that the same be applied on here and that general articles on non footballing matters also be removed, hence me deleting a couple of articles tonight. Personally, I think that there are plenty of forums for non football matters, there's also a 'general chat' section on this site, specifically for people to discuss non football matters. It would be my preference to keep the articles on here about Hull City, or at least about football, though with some leeway for the odd bit of entertainment. As my opinion on this has been questioned, I thought I'd let everyone else air there views, so I have some guidance on what most people are happy to see on here.
anything and everything...if somebody only wnats to discuss football, they can ignore the non football related posts....same way you can just ignore a certain football related topic..i dont understand when people complain about certain types of articles personally...takes more effort to complain then to click the back button...
Think of it like a pub pre match. Everyone talks about the football generally as that's all our main interest afterall that's why we are here, but occasionally events outside of football will have more importance attached to them. left unpoliced common sense will prevail, the majority will probably be about football and the rest will look after itself, if you don't want to read about other things then don't open the topic. What will this place turn into in the off season if we aren't allowed to talk about anything other than football, with no World Cup this year what would we talk about...
anything and everything please, the General Chat forum's fine but we all get to know each other and if a non-football topic comes up i'd rather just talk amongst fellow hull fans. Like DJ said if you don't want to read about non-football topics then don't.
Im only bothered with sport on here, if I want politics theres other places to go. Saying that an off-topic section is a good idea for anybody who can't be arsed going to other sites.
So long as it stays mainly football I don't mind other topics coming on. If it gets to the point where nearly every thread is non-football then we need to look at it again. Obviously the usual legal/abue issues will apply so I can't see a problem discussing things.
most of the topics are on football anyways, i dont mind the odd topic of general chatter, like beverley said, dont need to read it, itd be easier if people put topics stating what its about, there tends to be lots of topics with intriguing titles which annoys more people..
Spot on I come on here to talk about Hull City and Football first and foremost, it should be that way obviously but i like the general stuff that we ended babbling on about on another note OLM can i request you delete the thread on TWF, asking if you think one of the regular posters is a tosser or not is a bit out of order (true or not )
I'd rather not bring other topics in, specifically religion and politics. Just look at Glasgow to see how well that's worked out. It all starts off friendly and then gets out of hand. I'd like to allow my 8 year old nephew to read the censored site to get him involved with City, and would rather leave other subjects for his mum to make the call on.
I think the way it's going now is alright, It's Hull City fans talking about Football and then anything else, If this was a football only site I wouldn't stick around I'd head back to footymad.
yeah, i like most come on to talk about city, but sometimes if your waiting for a reply on a thread it gets a bit boring, and its good to have a few threads to kill a bit of time with and have a laugh, like the music ones..and surely nobody objects to the pictures one? ....are the people that complain the same people who complained about rossy and brand..tut tut
I agree when the football topics get a bit dry if I can't post on here I will just go elsewhere... regrettably.
I don't think it will be a major problem. Around matchdays, big events etc... there will be the vast majority of talk purely based upon City and football. However, during a bit of a dry spell, it can help to keep the discussion going on off-topic matters. It is good to get a bit of discussion about general events, as well as the football, with fellow City fans and people that you know better from the forums. There are a fair few people from other City boards, so it isn't purely former 606ers. Also, you would be missing out if you didn't get to "debate" with Dean. XD
I might just take it easy on this board you know me I don't like to rub people up the wrong way, Besides I'm off to the Shetlands at the end of the month, I don't want to leave on a sour note.
If you just let the board take its course, I doubt there will be a problem, most of the chat will be on City/Football. There will occasionally be some talk on topical issues, but they will most likely be easily avoidable for those who aren't interested.
i think it should be mainly city (as it will be as thats why we come here) but there isnt always enough to talk about especially when its the off season so other threads should be allowed. As its a message board unpopular topics wouldn't get posted on so would disappear from the main page. i think we should just go with the flow and if people have a problem with it then we can bring it up and discuss whether or not to review the policy
