Lets try and be logical here and not just say "a new ****ing team, owner and manager".

    I'd say

    1. A new LB definitely.

We are so exposed down that left side it's unbelievable.

    2. Another Central midfield player. We are weak down the middle. Tiote looks solid recently, but is quite injury prone.

    3. Another CB. Colo is passed it, we need someone good to partner Mbemba.

    Goalkeepers (3)

We should be ok if Elliot and Darlow stay fit whil Krul is out injured

    Defenders (9)

We need a first team centre-back to partner Mbemba with Colo, Lascelles and Dummett as back up

A first team left-back with Haidara as cover

A reserve right-back to put some pressure on Janmaat

    - Sell Williamson and Steven Taylor

    Midfielders (9)

A first team creative central midfielder to play alongside Colback or Tiote

A first team winger to add options to Sissoko, Thauvin, and Aarons

We are ok with attacking midfielders for now with Wijnaldum and De Jong

    - Sell Anita, Obertan, Vuckic, Marveaux

    Attackers (4)

We need two first team forwards to rotate with Mitrovic and Perez

    - Sell Gouffran, Cisse, Riviere

    That means we need:

    1 X First choice Centre-back
    1 X First choice Left-back
    1 X Reserve Right-back
1 X First team Creative central midfielder
    1 X First team Winger
    2 X First Team Attackers

7 players - no way we'll get that in one window, but that is what we need for the next stage of team re-building.

We need to sign as a minimum:

    CF - Charlie Austin - £8m
    DCM - ??? - £12m?
    CB - Matip - £4m?
    LB - ??? - £8m

So a good £30m needed to be spent (as a minimum). Basically, any signings need to be able to hit the ground running and therefore we need experienced players who have done it in the top leagues and preferably with Premier League experience. We can't be bringing in kids with a view to them becoming saleable assets in 3 years. This Ashley transfer policy has been the single biggest problem we have had over the last 8 years and why we are perpetually flirting with relegation season after season IMHO.

I also wouldn't mind a new manager tbh. I'm not one for jumping on managers' backs at all and I never gave Pardew ****, but, McLaren, well, it's just not going to work out is it? I'd rather we had Brendan Rodgers in charge.

To make my new years resolution to give up football and avoid the relentless pain, suffering and mental degradation it is giving me. My wife is utterly astounded why I choose to keep following it - "if it was a friend you'd have stopped talking to them years ago for putting less effort into the relationship than you are"

We NEED a left back and centre back or we are going down. A playmaker in the middle would be great but very difficult to find. One striker who is on form or has prem experience (of being good) will be ok up front as Mitro and Perez just need seasoned support.

A fit Rolando plus a Thauvin who could adapt to the league would be ace on the wings but I'm beginning to doubt either of these things will happen!!

I've said the same about Ashley and the recruitment policy it has to change in this next window but to make any real inroad into the problems I think he has spend to up to £50 million if that is what it takes, this is not just about surviving in the Premier League but about the way the club has to change.

I honestly think he will. Plus I think there's a lot of players currently trying to find their feet at the same time (Mbemba, Elliot, Dummett (back from injury), Wijnaldum, Thauvin, Perez, Mitrovic,...). Ideally you add a few quality players onto an established core team but we lacked a decent core so the new players have got a much harder task. I suspect Thauvin in particular would be doing a grand job if he was at a different premiership club. We have to buy players with ability in January not potential - that means either paying more or getting older players (or both).

    Willems, Matip, Austin, etc,

When do we ever buy players from the top leagues in Europe? Name ANY in the last 5 years (Cisse I can think of, there's probably some others?)

We need todays equivalent of Rob Lee, Gary Speed or Nolan, that character that pulls the team along from the mid-field and will gee up the younger players as needed.

The type of player I mistakenly thought Tiote/Sissokho was a few years back.

There was some French lad who was ace in the Premiership a couple of years back then went to PSG and it didn't work out. I heard he was available earlier in the season - did he go anywhere???

I expect, not hope, EXPECT us to sign a minimum of 6 players.
    We need:

LB - Dummett and Haidara are ****
    CB - **** off Coloccini. You're ****.
Defensive midfielder - Tiote and Colback are ****ing dogshit. Anita - He's tidy but not a long term solution
    Creative midfielder - Vital.
Winger - Thauvin and Obertan and ****ing useless. Aarons is an injury prone turd.
Striker - Cisse can **** right off.

    We also need:

    An additional CB,
    An additional LB
    An additional RB

Graham Carr needs to **** off with his foreign recommendations. This guy was sacked by ****ing Northampton Town and Blackpool ffs. His judgement is a joke. He pursued Thauvin for two ****ing years. For what? He's a waste of ****ing money. Lee Charnley - Ashley needs to sack that useless sack of ****. We need heavy investment in January. None of this ****ing players for the future business. We need established quality that will get us out of trouble.
